Dr. Vafa Shayani-St. James

Recommended Posts

I have scheduled by surgery for Jan 29th, 2012. Dr. Shayani and his team at St. James have been nothing but helpful and kind!! They made sure I made it to this point and was approved by my insurance. Dr. Shayani is so personable, by giving out his personal e-mail and cell phone number in case I have any questions at any time. His success rate is amazing and he even teaches this surgical procedure to other physicians in the area. I can't wait to have my surgery and start a whole new life!! I would recommend Dr. Shayani and his team to the fullest!!

I just used him in August...

I think I like him, but he had a bit of a "dry" sense of humor that sometimes comes across as callous.

He did a great surgery though!

I think its just a bad, dry sense of humor. lol. I don't think its callous at all. But to each their own. It looks like you are losing great though! I can't wait to start seeing some results! Starting to get nervous as hell but i'll get through it! Keep up the good work and congrats on your loss!! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
