Hi, I'm following the directions and introducing myself. Obviously didn't get morbidly obese by following the directions.

BMI 39.5 with several other "qualifying" health issues. Went through entire process about 2.5 years ago and decided to give Weight Watchers one more try. Lost enough weight to no longer qualify for Lap Band. Woo Hoo me! Nope...gained it all back. So I am 100% ready to go. I feel educated and comfortable with the process.

Biggest fears: controlling portions, liquid diet, and feeling nauseous a lot.

Read the book and it is very informative and helpful. Wonderful resource. Thanks LapBandTalk people.

I had band in Aug 2012 and have lost 46 lbs it was the best thing I ever did for myself. the liquids diet is hard but doable and there isn't any nausa when you eat right. When the fills get right for you, you wont be hungry 4-5 hours, you wont hear food calling you. you will finally get how thin people stay thin. The opening to our stomach is to large and not sensitive enough to send the message to our brain that we have eaten that is what the band does. tome it just repair my stomach a d I feel great.

Thank you! I'm already looking forward to the day I can offer kind, encouraging words to someone else.

Hi - I'm brand new at being banded (just had my surery on Jan. 2nd) so I'm still on the liquid diet. I can tell you that while it isn't loads of fun, it is very doable - and if you have issues both your Dr. and I'm sure the wonderful folks here will be able to give you some pointers :) The only issue with nauseousness I've had is when taking my medication for my migrains. I have to crush them and down them and (I've learned the hard way) if I don't have enough in my stomach ahead of time it will upset my stomach  Best of luck with your surgery!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
