I am on day 5- anesthesia kicked the crap out of me. I have eaten sugar free applesauce, sugar free vanilla pudding, light and fit Greek yogurt, and chicken broth. Haven't tolerated anything to finish yet and the list above is basically what I've attempted with partial success since surgery. Burping constantly which makes me feel better. Tired, cold, and wondering if this is all normal. If u can tolerate a cream Soup then do it! NOTHING tastes good to me.

I had some cream of chicken Soup today. It took me the whole day to finish one small can, but I'm going to bed satisfied! Tomorrow I will try and add in something else.

OMG - Me too! My surgery was Jan 3rd, and my Dr gave me 4cc's during surgery. How can I possibly be more hungry with 4cc's of Fluid in my band? I swear it's having the opposite effect! I'm drinking the same amount of Protein Shakes I did for pre-op, but now I'm STARVING. Pre-op I had no problem, wasn't feeling hungry at all. Now, since my pain has gone down some, I get to that point where my stomach is screaming at me that I should have eaten hours ago, even though it's only been a few hours since my last shake! Cramping and growling and half-nauseated... I'm so frustrated!

I'm not sure how much I was filled with, but when I was only on liquids, I was starving! I am doing better now with some thicker liquids and trying to get more Protein in.

I am sure I'm getting enough Protein, since I'm doing the same shakes I did before. I had a squeezable applesauce a few minutes ago, and that seems to have settled my stomach. Not sure why the shakes that were so great before the band aren't working now that I have it, but I think you're right Sam - something about that tiny bit of texture really makes a difference!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
