Recommended Posts

I am doing 30 days of no meat!!! I am holding up well, meat gets stuck anyways and I can't see the doctors to late this month so I am trying no meat!! Thought I would feel bad but I really feel good!!! I feel 20 years old again!! The energy is amazing and yes I get the Protein in through shakes, and nuts, and Beans and other ways.

I love the Lord, for the strength to tackle this weight loss!!!

Great. I have started my family on one day a week meatless. I do more than that, but it's hard to get the hubs on board.

In the beginning, I was having trouble with meat also....my Surgeon said that is not unusual...

Since all my Dr.'s have been preaching to me about cutting back on Red Meat to once a week at least, and MANY of my friends have gone vegetarian....I figured it was as good as time as any since this is to be a all out life changing event...

So I have been without red meat for 1 1/2 years now.....

I'm not fanatical about it....I'm not picky if meat is in chili, etc,. you just won't see me ordering a steak, roast or pork chops.....fir instance.

Plus I'm sure it will not go down anyway.....

Again, one of the best decisions I've made...I can definitely tell the difference....

I don't really eat too much meat (no steaks and stuff) but I do like occasional barbeque foods (hot dogs, hamburgers)

do you guys nix chicken too?

That is wonderful!! I wish I could stop eating meat. I don't eat red meat; I just eat chicken, turkey and fish; but I can't cut it out completely because I don't have a lot of Protein options. I can't eat soy because it messes up my hormonal balances, I can't eat Beans because they give me too much gas that is really painful, and I don't eat dairy (right now). Stopping the red meat though, was one of the best decisions I ever made!!!

I hope you continue to feel wonderful :D

You're supposed to get Protein.....meat is a good source, but not the only source.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
