need help on post-op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

I need some suggestions on what to eat. I'm going on my 6th day post-op and can't stand another Protein Shake. The thought of them make me nauseated. I've had eggs blended with broth, applesauce, yogurt, baby food, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles. I'm starving n everything I have makes my stomach turn. I need Protein bad to keep me satisfied. Any suggestions??? Please help.

Sorry, but that was pretty much all I was allowed to have for 3wks. Couldn't have eggs.< /p>

Did your Dr give you a list of foods you were allowed? Mind did and it look like what you just listed.lol

Call your Dr and see if they will let you have anything else.

Your lucky to be having shakes....I am 5days post and am on Water, tea with no sugars or milk and crystal light drinks and ice chips. I go for a follow up to morrow and then get to have a shake....its hard ...I just keep thinking I am worth it as you are..hang in there it should get better

I was allowed to have runny farina at that stage as well as thinned out unsweetened applesauce. What does your doctor say?

Thank u all for the support. Went back n 're read the instructions n I can have cream of wheat, reduce fat n low sodium creamy Soups, sugar free pudding, enriched milk for added Protein. Wow how did I miss that??? Life is better today but I still can't wait to eat some real food.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
