Julie3856 98 Posted January 6, 2013 This may be a silly thing to ask.... My goal for this summer is to run my first 5K. I have lost 83lbs since being banded July 23 & I have a fair amount of excess belly skin since losing the weight. I am determined to run a 5K this summer if it's the last thing I do! Is there anything anyone has tried to help with the excess skin bouncing/flapping around? I was thinking Spanx but unsure where to buy them or if they'd even work? I hope someone could give me some advice, I would appreciate it! Thanks!! 1 dee257 reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted January 6, 2013 Target sells Assets... made by the same company as Spanx, but less expensive. You could also try tight running pants. 1 dee257 reacted to this

Lisa0203 73 Posted January 6, 2013 They make Spanx workout wear now and some stores sell compression yoga pants (old navy is one such store). Haven't tried the spanx pants since they are like $80 but I love the ON ones...hold everything in nice and tight! Congrats on your fantastic weight loss! 1 LouisianaLiLi reacted to this

nurse535 30 Posted January 6, 2013 I have Spanx and I have some ON compression pants and I'd say either should work fine for you. The ON compression pants are probably cheaper, so maybe try those first! It depends on how much support you need, but I think they would work.

tjmiller 37 Posted January 7, 2013 Spanx are great and durable. I always get mine a size or two bigger than what I normally wear. They still do the job but I don't feel suffocated.
B-52 7,113 Posted January 7, 2013 As a side note.....I have lost 100lbs.....and people ask me all the time (including myself) where is all the excess skin? Well, I believe it is because I run 5 miles a day, drink all my Water everyday, and never go without my daily Protein.....plus I sit in a 170 degree sauna for 30 minutes everyday, and finish it all up with a "Ice Plunge" (like swedes jumping in the snow) All of these things contribute to "Good Healthy Skin and Muscle Tone" I believe, as I was loosing the weight, my skin was actually getting tighter!!! 2 Lapbandster and Onamissionn2013 reacted to this

Thats awesome! I wanna follow in your footsteps but I don't have access to a sauna/ice plunge I go to the gym all the time, but dont really run, i do more of the elliptical machine
roziecakes 20 Posted January 7, 2013 I do have some loose skin, but not a lot. I have to say that after I started weight training, and I drink a TON of Water, it has helped with the loose skin. That being said, I have found that just getting tight running pants works for me; but as mentioned, I don't have a ton of loose skin.

FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted January 8, 2013 Walmart sells capri length Danskin leggings which will hold the tummy and legs in. You can wear them under running shorts. 1 dee257 reacted to this
Hvnsentbabs 4 Posted January 23, 2013 I did have a good bit of loose skin all over.. Went to a consult for removing but it was just to costly. Then I started doing bodywraps faithfully once a week and drinking lots of Water. Now I have just a little more to go. It detoxes and breaks down the fat cells making them smaller. I love them. www.45minutesandgone.com if you want to check them out. 1 PattyGirl66 reacted to this
Baba Wawa 543 Posted January 23, 2013 My daughter runs half marathons and has a 17 yr old and 3 fifteen yr old girls. She's only 5'2" tall, so you can imagine the excess skin she has from carrying 32 week triplets with polyhydramnios...she swears by compression running pants/shorts depending on the weather. They help with circulation while running too. Good luck!
