Depends on if the doc said pureed or soft. Try pureed regular fruits and vegetables, and chicken noodle Soup mixed in the blender.

I did puréed cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, tuna salad, baby food meats in gravy (had to add salt and then it was fine), mashed potatoes, baby food fruit, sugar free Jello mousse temptations. I only had to do it for a week and it went by pretty quick. Hang in there. Also keep in mind surgery may have altered your taste buds. At least that's what happened to me. I can't stand anything sweet anymore but anything salty has never tasted so good. I have always had a sweet tooth but can't stand sweets since surgery.

i just purred what ever I cooked for my family, may have looked like crap but it tasted fine. My tastes were really messed up for a while after surgery, I could not tolerate the Protein Shakes because everything was so sickening sweet to me. Go to this web site, bariatriceating.com there are some recipes for purred foods and meals on the site. I used this site a lot in the beginning. These women had gastric bypass surgery but the food choices helped me to figure out ways to make it work for me. I didn't try baby food because it is so tasteless. Yuck!

I needed something more than yogurt. So I had lots of eggs, in every way you can imagine. Aldo cottage cheese was good too. Hang in there. It does get better.

Chili in a blender, tuna and chicken salad in a blender, ricotta cheese w marinara, sweet potato well done. Baby food is for babies, you are not a baby. Go easy on the mashed potatoes, refried Beans. If you can mush it and blend it, you should be okay to eat it. I loved rotissaire chicken in the blender with a bit of bottled gravy and cheese......consistancy of Peanut Butter but sooooo tasty after 4 weeks of liquids. I stuck with Soups as well, added cottage cheese and blended for more Protein.< /p>

I went with the baby food because it packed 8g of Protein in a small jar me also because I don't have the luxury if time to cook and purée all my own food so convenience was a big factor too. As everyone here says each doc is different. I wasn't allowed sweet potatoes, cheese, refried Beans, etc. in the mushies stage. I wasn't allowed to eat anything as long as it was put through a blender (unfortunately). I had a very specific and short list of foods to choose from so you work with what you've got. I didn't want to discount anything without giving it a shot. Baby food is bland, but throw some salt on it and the meat products were exactly like turkey, beef, or chicken gravy you would buy for your own dinner. I think being open to trying different things (as recommended by your doc and nutritionist) makes the overall journey much easier.
