I was banded On 12/21 and WOOOHHHOOO I had my two week follow up today. I've lost 15 lbs.; which they told me was fantastic!!! I get to move on to mushies and I'm sooo excited! Any good suggested from you all? I had some of the sugar free applesauce earlier and although it didn't taste like steak; my face sure looked like I was eating steak lol. I go back on February 2nd for my 1st fill.

So happy, Beth

Anything in a blender, chili, chicken salad, tuna salad, refried beans..........this wasn't a very exciting stage for me but I loved getting a rotissaire chicken adding a bit of liquid (low fat gravy, BBQ Sauce, broth) a bit of cheese and sticking it in my bullet..........consistancy of Peanut Butter, but tasted so good.

Great job Beth! Do you want to keep in contact? We were banded the same day and have the same surgeon! I live in Orleans.

oatmeal, mashed potatoes, mashed Beans. Theres some applesauce that is not sugar free at Walmart but it very low calories for the amount you can eat, about 50-60 calories per cup. Taste better than sugar free applesauce. SF popsicles, SF Jello, cream of wheat, light cream Soups.

I actually stayed a week longer on liquids to make sure none of the mushy's bothered me and I was able to lose a bit more weight.

Congratulations!

I would review your doctor's instructions. Yes I know everybody says that. The reason why I want to stress that is that every doctor is different in what they consider mushies. My first week of mushies was only yogurt, cottage cheese ricotta. That's a far cry from anything that you can put in the blender. Remember just because it mushed in a blender doesn't mean it's the right weight. And when you eat something it's going to go into the small stomach and pull on the stitches there from the band until it passes through into the big stomach.

I was banded on 12/21 as well and 2 week follow up was yesterday. I've lost 16 pounds and my first fill is on Feb 1st. For mushies, I can have soft fish (ugh, I dont think so!!), all kinds of cheeses like laughing cow, Peanut Butter, yogurt, canned fruit in Water, mashed potatoes, no chicken or meat yet. Next week I can do small amounts of processed chicken.

I really have to rely on Protein Shakes to keep me full once that swelling restriction goes down.

I know its going to take some time to get to the green zone, so Im going to try like hell to resist those foods I don't need anyway.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
