On Wednesday Dec. 5, 2012 I was at 5.5cc in my 10cc band and I received a .5cc fill bringing me to 6cc. I did my liquids for the day then my mushiness then back up to regular food but I wasn't able to get anything in and finally when I couldn't even get liquids to stay down doing a lot of pbing I went in and they took out 1.5cc and set me out until Jan 2, 2013.

Long story short I have gained around 5 lbs in one month with the holidays etc. but I truly didn't feel like I had any fill in. The pain I always had in my left shoulder is completely gone and on Jan. 2 I received a 1cc fill putting me back up to 5.5cc but I am finally back to regular food today and I don't feel any restriction and still no pain in my left shoulder. It doesn't feel like it did when I had the 5.5cc before. Has anyone ever had this experience or something similar? Why am I not feeling restriction this time? What do I need to do? I don't want to keep gaining!

Until you are in the green zone it is just another diet- so it has been rumored.

I hate to tell you but it's not the Fluid in your band that causes you to lose weight but the quantity and quality of what you put in your mouth.

I've also heard that once it is removed it takes a while to find the sweet spot even if you have the same amount in as before.

If you do not want to gain weight then you will need to stick to the mathematical equation. Eat less calories that what you burn each day. This means knowing how much you burn and tracking what you eat.

Lets just call these 5 lbs what they were, holiday lbs and move forward knowing that you are strong enough to work with the limited restriction you have and still lose the weight you want.

Best wishes to you!

Thanks I am still using my fitness pal to track everything going in. I'm just surprised that I don't feel any restriction this time around. I stick around 1000 calories and am incorporating the Wii fitness into my program.

I agree with everything MiniMi said.... If you track and watch your calories to keep them between 1000 - 1500 depending on your activity level you will not gain..even as you venture in the green zone

You may be in need of just a small fill... Sometimes it makes all the difference

I had 3.5 out . I was tough. You need to journal and weigh

everything. You may be a bit hungry but just go with it. Drink Drink Drink.

Good luck

Wendy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
