AlexaLasVSG 9 Posted January 4, 2013 Hey all. I was banded on January 2nd, 2014. My surgeon told me that he filled my bad with 7cc's of saline. I have a 10cc band. Is there anyone that thinks it may be a little too much? His reasoning behind it makes sense. I have Portion Control problems and I definitely love my starches. I don't feel any discomfort and I trust his judgement, but does anyone think its kind of odd to have gotten such a big fill. Let me know your thoughts! Xoxo, Alexa

karewpah 173 Posted January 4, 2013 Wow...can you even swallow Water? I would think that is too much, yes, although every person is different... 1 TriciaLN reacted to this
AlexaLasVSG 9 Posted January 4, 2013 Yes I can swallow fine and I have no discomfort! I just was curious if there is anyone else out there who has had the same fill as me on the day of surgery. I've never heard of it before. Usually people start at 1.25cc's or something like that.
#MagicWithinme 173 Posted January 5, 2013 That does sound like alike, but we are all individuals, and at least its already in you, it wasn't gradual.. I got up to 3.75 (10cc band) and had to have it all taken out, now all I have is 1cc, (at time of surgery I had 2 ccs in band). But if you have problems, don't hesitate to let your dr. know! 1 CHEZNOEL reacted to this
2012 359 Posted January 5, 2013 Wow, that does sound like a lot, but if you are comfortable, more power to you . They had me filled with a total of 4cc on my first fill (Only 2 was supposed to be in the band at surgery, but it ended up being 3), but I got to have my first experience of a stuck episode, pbing and burping with that white liquid stuff they use for the x-ray machine at my first fill, not fun at all, so I had to have some removed that day, but now I'm up to 5, go figure . Back2Petite 23 Posted January 5, 2013 Wow that seems like a lot and I thought mine was. My doctor filled mine to 5.2 at surgery. I have a massive fibroid found during LB surgery so this this was probably done to minimize the, need for repeated fills until I have the mass removed, according to his PA. I have had an additional fill and now have 5.6cc in 10cc band. I'm not having problems either.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted January 5, 2013 I'm not a medical expert, but that sounds like way too much. Many people don't even need that much to be in the Green Zone and being too tight immediately after surgery would be awful. Unfortunately, you likely won't know if it's too much until you're back on solid foods again. I only have 4.9cc in my 10cc band, btw.
TriciaLN 177 Posted January 5, 2013 Wow....this is the first time I am hearing about a doctor putting that much in at surgery. I would think its too much, but you won't really be able to tell until you start eating solids. Good luck to you.
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted January 5, 2013 Maybe he only put in 0.7 cc's I can not imagine any doctor would put that much in a band at surgery. If he did I would find another doctor that is ridiculous. Portion Control or not. 3 Maddysgram, ♕ajtexas♕ and CHEZNOEL reacted to this
Summerrain 520 Posted January 5, 2013 I had 4.8 put in my band on day of surgery and I have a 14cc band and am now filled to 8cc and am where I need to be. 7cc does seem a lot as the others have stated but if you're doing fine with it then you should be ok especially if you can still drink with no problems. You'll have to be very careful when introducing foods and take very small bites and chew very well. Best wishes to you. 1 Back2Petite reacted to this
Smy76065 0 Posted January 5, 2013 When I had my band placed - I didn't get anything in my band until 6 weeks after. Then I only got 2 cc's the first fill. And 2 cc's my second fill. I go for my 3rd fill 1/
suzannetex 100 Posted January 6, 2013 My friend had 7cc in at her surgery. She has done great. No problems at all. None of us r dr so we don't know.
