cole&matt'smom 72 Posted January 4, 2013 Oh how I wished I could actually chew food right now. I wonder why each doc uses a different diet. Mine in liquids only! broth, Water, unsweetened tea, G2Gatorade, sugar free Popsicles, Italian Ice-Sugar free & the most solid food I can have is Jell-0:/ Nothing carbonated, which that has never been an issue with me though:) I see some posts where docs allow certain foods. I guess this post is just a jealousy rant. Lol! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
missybear 86 Posted January 4, 2013 I remember the feeling. I had 2 weeks pre op liquids then another 2 weeks post op on liquids, so 4 weeks all up. It was pretty tough especially towards the end, but looking back now its been definitely worth it. I chewed on ice post op to have the sensation of using my teeth, by the time it hit the band, its melted to Water, so it didn't risk undoing any of the surgeons handy work. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Benellibabe with a Band 17 Posted January 4, 2013 I am new and I am 3 weeks post op. I had 2 weeks pre op liquids and 3 weeks post op. I don't get to have solids til next Thursday. I can't weight. I got so burned out on broth and sugarfree pops and Jello. When week 2 came I was so happy to drink the cambells Soups to go with no chucks. This week I am cookin my own soups and using a food processor to make colorful moosh! Haha it is a real change. But, you can do this. Don't give up and don't get discouaged. It will pass. And keep drinkin those Protein Shakes. They fill you up and leave you feellin satisfied. H.E.B. has one called "oh yeah!" And they are available in 5 flavors and tastes better than anything else I have tried. Good luck to you. And remember this part is for healing not weight loss but you will do great. Next week is better! 2 parker220 and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
This Girl Is Losing It 41 Posted January 4, 2013 I start my 2-week pre-op diet Jan. 15th and it consists of 3 Protein Shakes a day, period. Not looking forward to it, I must say. I'm sure I'll be posting my own rant... But we'll make it through! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

Missmia9 33 Posted January 4, 2013 Wow...my doctor only requires one week of a diet of 1000 calories or less! I'm wondering if I should just try to do that week as all liquids since so many of you had to!
cole&matt'smom 72 Posted January 4, 2013 I will only be on liquids 7-10 days post op. I will step off my soap box & allow each of you whom have longer post ops liquids to gladly step up:) Bless it, I thought 24 days was bad.

cole&matt'smom 72 Posted January 7, 2013 Well day 5 of pre-op diet down. Down to single digit countdown until my surgery on the 16th! Today has been much better. I have not missed food as badly. I even made my boys pizza for lunch & didn't mind having my broth. I have been somewhat emotional....stressed, moody, sad. Is this normal? Maybe my nerves are just getting to me. I'm not scared of the surgery just the fear of failing. I am paying out of pocket which makes me even more determined but I have struggled with my weight my entire life:( I just want to be healthier for myself & my precious family. My dad passed at 49 & he was my best friend. I don't want to leave my boys behind early in life. I strongly believe God determines our time on Earth but I also believe we need to choose a healthy life while here. Goodness, I just need to pull myself together! Benellibabe with a Band 17 Posted January 7, 2013 Yes these emotions are very normal. And after your surgery you might have them for awhile but they do go away. I had them too. I believe some days I actually went into morning over not being able to just sit down and "pigout". But that is the bad person being replaced with the new and improved person. That bad person tries to hang on for dear life. But since I am 3 weeks post op I don't have these feelings toward food any longer. I actually feel like I eat so I can live. I no longer live to eat. I prepare all my families meals and I have 2 kids under 14 and I can fix their favorites and it feels like I am a waitress in a cafe cause I am not emotionally connected to eating
