Need some support.

Recommended Posts

So, I was banded 6/12/12. Had little to no restriction until my 2nd fill which was in November. I have been very discouraged- feeling like a failure. In fact, I haven't visited this site as much as I had previously because I would come here, compare myself to others, and get even more discouraged. Well, I am back, and looking for the support I need to succeed on this journey. The majority of my weight loss was during my pre-op diet until recently with my second fill in November.I seem to be on the right track, but need some food ideas. I am getting bored, even discouraged with my diet. To be honest, I think I am a little too tight, but I am resistant to get an un-fill, because it is only now that I have started to see some real weight loss.

Can you give me some food ideas??

I am also going to start exercising- any programs that have been effective for you??

Thanks,

Jennifer

I too did not lose much in the post op healing phase! Don't worry, you are on the right track now! Use Fitness Pal and try to use up your daily calorie allowance so that you wont get stuck in a plateau. Works for me!

I am sorry to hear you feel like a loser but that is the farthest thing from the truth. People tend to forget that the healing phase is just that. The healing phase. Weight loss will follow naturally once your body heals. You know all our lives we have compared ourselves to every one in the media, magazines, models, movies or even close friends or family just wishing we could be just like them...so perfect...well my friend this is the one place you should come to and not compare yourself. It doesn't matter how much weight one person has lost over another weather preop or postop we are all on a journey together. Striving for healthy lives not to look like a model. You will do great at the pace your body will set for you and followed by your mind. Your determination will get you across the finish line. We didn't get this way over night and it will take us awhile to get the extra weight off so don't put yourself on a time limit. The lapband will allow you to lose UP to 2 pounds a week. That is a good result. Some weeks more some weeks less and some weeks will be the same. Make sure you take all your measurements for success off the scale as well. Good luck to you.

I have been cooking up a storm these last few weeks and stocking the freezer up with healthy meals. Both of my crockpots have been getting a workout!

I have been getting some great recipes from emilybites.com and skinnytaste.com. Emily bites has a lot of recipes that you use a muffin tin to bake it in. Great for Portion Control.< /p>

For breakfast, I either have a Protein shake or Special K Protein cereal. I am made mini quiches in the mini muffin tins but I have been eating them for lunch with a cheese stick. Boca burgers are also a great option for lunch...or Greek yogurt.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
