On the question of not having a full but things getting stuck, I have only had it happen one time. It was a steak and cheese sandwich from subway with no sauce. I believe it was way to dry. It passed in about 5 minutes but was not pleasant at all. Other then that I just try to really chew and eat slower when eating bread.< /p>

I would have gone with no fill, but my surgeon wanted me to have one because he said that your stomach changes as you lose weight and I had so much to lose he didn't want any problems. I had one initial fill of 3cc and have not had another since and I will be banded one year the end of this month. I have lost 143 pounds so far. I am never hungry, have never had any stuck episodes. I chew chew chew and avoid white bread, Pasta, rice, etc. I do eat multigrain breads, but only a half slice a couple times a week. LOVE my band!

I just had my 4 year bandiversary on 12/20 and never had a fill. I lost at a steady rate until my goal of 85 pounds and the doctor did not want to mess with the perfect set up. I have learned control and portion size with the small plate and small utensils from day one and I do gain about 5 pounds every winter around the holidays because it gets cold here in Arizona and I don't swim this time of year and have a hard time getting out walking more than once in the day.

no fill yet......no stuck episodes, just chew alot, take small bites and go slow...just letting the band work and me helping by making good food choice choices.....congrats to everyone who has lost weight..

For those of you with no fills, do you have episodes where you still get stuck? Do you practice the same guidelines, ie. small bites, lots of chewing, small amounts of food in a meal? Is there anything you can't tolerate?

I haven't had a stuck episode yet! (thank god), however I have felt discomfort if I eat too fast or drink something too soon after eating. I practice the same guide lines as everyone who has been banded, smaller bites, and chewing my food as if my mouth was a mini food processor. I stick by the golden rule, never eat more than a cup per meal. I can tolerate anything when it comes to food.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
