Rn925 25 Posted January 4, 2013 Just wondering if anyone has had a significant loss without a fill. For some reason, I'd like to try. Maybe I'm crazy. Lol.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted January 4, 2013 It's definitely possible. The fills don't make you lose weight, eating less calories than you burn makes you lose weight. The fills are to suppress the appetite. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted January 4, 2013 I lost almost 50 lbs before I had a fill but it wasnt because I didnt want one... its because I was losing well without one and since I was just 2 months post op the dr felt it wouldnt hurt me to wait. 3 ☠carolinagirl☠, CHEZNOEL and ♕ajtexas♕ reacted to this
PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted January 4, 2013 I haven't had a fill (yet). Doesn't mean I will never, just that where I am at now in my weight loss my surgeon feels there is no need to touch me (in his own words). I see him again in 2 weeks, ya never know when things will change.... 4 Peaceful1, ♕ajtexas♕, ☠carolinagirl☠ and 1 other reacted to this
jrockwood 7 Posted January 6, 2013 I have been told by people that they went 8 or 9 months with out being filled. I am 2 months out am have lost 30 lbs with out a fill. I go back to the Dr the end of March. I to would like to continue without a fill. It is amazing how much my good thinking has changed. I rarely think about it anymore. Good luck. 1 Rn925 reacted to this
Kimbergro 16 Posted January 6, 2013 I wondered the same thing! I did have my first fill a few days ago and made an appt in 3 weeks to get a second one. The PA told me that if I was doing ok and didn't feel like I needed a fill that I could cancel and call in when I do feel I need one. I also would like to try to do it without much restriction. So far the band has had an effect on my hunger, so hoping that will continue.
Lyoness82 21 Posted January 6, 2013 I was banded on oct 25 th and I have an empty band. I won't be getting a fill anytime soon. I'm down 37 lbs. I'm happy with my weight loss. I lose 3-5 lbs a week which is plenty IMO. If you are losing why mess with it? 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
megamomnj 334 Posted January 6, 2013 I was banded on November 6th and have lost 36 pounds without a fill. I see my doctor every month and if I have lost more than four pounds, he won't do a fill. My feeling is that it took me a long time to put the weight on, it is going to take me a long time to take it off. Slow and steady wins the race! Rn925 25 Posted January 6, 2013 For those of you with no fills, do you have episodes where you still get stuck? Do you practice the same guidelines, ie. small bites, lots of chewing, small amounts of food in a meal? Is there anything you can't tolerate?
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted January 6, 2013 You can lose without a fill, plenty on here have. Cheryl just posted, also look at Carolina Girl. She is down 88 pounds without a fill. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
blpchick 50 Posted January 6, 2013 I have only 1cc in my band and I've lost 100 pounds since may 2012 and actually I've spent over half that time with only .5cc. I've got a small amount of Fluid and I'm happy the way it is. I also have the plication with mine though so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Lyoness82 21 Posted January 6, 2013 Rn925, I do have restriction, things do get stuck so I avoid them. If I don't chew chew chew things get stuck as well. I feel like I can eat a little more then a cup but it still takes me about 20 min to eat beacu I take smaller bites and chew a lot.
Aqusis 16 Posted January 6, 2013 I'm 2 months out with no fill yet. I've lost 51 lbs. dr declines fill last month and said we'd do it this month if I lost less than 5 lbs but I'm down 10 since last apt and still 2 weeks to go until this months apt so likely no fill this time either. My surgeon put zero in at surgery so I'm completely empty.
