nearly 7 months ago, i could hardly walk (far) because i was so big and my knees hurt..couldnt fasten seat belt around me.....flash forward through the liquid pre and post, shoulder pain, healing stitches, runs to the potty.......trust me, its worth it.

Peppermint tea, heating pad, gas x and lots of walking for the shoulder pain. It is worth it.

Its worth it! The health aspect alone makes it worth it. Numerous folks on here, including me, have given up their meds because their blood pressure dropped, cholesterol dropped to normal, etc. It is worth it for your self esteem, too. As wildrose said, follow her advice. Walk, Gas-x and your liquids You will be fine in about a few days to a week. Happy New year!!!!

I'm only a week post op, and I will say that those aches and pains gradually go away. I'm still having them, but not anywhere near the intensity as they were from the start. Follow the advice of the more experienced bandsters, it helps! And know that soon all the aches will be worth it :)

Very worth it. You feel like you have been hit by a truck for a few days, but once those complients start flying it is well worth every ache and main and then when the pants sizes go down - really worth while.

Start reading some of the profiles...it will inspire you and affirm that yes, it IS worth the time and effort to have your band.

This journey is a process and not an event. I've had to learn that the weights does come off, but you need a daily dedication to compliance to be successful.

You've come this far, you are motivated for success, and every day you feel better!

Best wishes for a successful journey...

Definitely worth it.

I appreciate your feeling like crap,I had the same feeling a week post op.

I'm not sure if you've had surgery before, but other surgeries I've felt a bit out of it for a week as well, largely due to the anesthetic regardless of the procedure.

Take the time off to heal, recover from surgery focusing on you and a bit of personal time to yourself. The time I had off with the lapband surgery, even feeling like crap allowed me to take a much needed break as well to get some rest, get my head in the right space looking forward to the new lifestyle I'd lead with the band and find a few treats like a walk with my dog, manicure and going to the movies that didn't involve food.

Best of Luck and I promise in another weeks time you'll be feeling much better :)

I'm band+11 days and nearly without pain though the incisions are a bit tender. I've yet to lose a bunch of weight but I know exactly why and it's my fault. Easy to fix.

As for being worth it, my limited time being banded doesn't give me the experience of others who have posted but I will say that, for my part, the fact that I've taken this step makes me feel GREAT. Makes me feel as though I've made a serious commitment to myself that will once and for all allow the opportunitity for success that I've struggled so vainly for via unsustainable fad diets and gym time.

Beyond that, I'm very much looking forward to the other lives my success will affect. Although some will tell you this has to be about "you", I get a lot of comfort knowing I'm blazing a trail many I know need and will ultimately follow.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement......I really appreciate it! I know that I need to give it some time......a year from now I'll look back and no doubt be smiling!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
