kabeerah 0 Posted April 11, 2006 I was checking myself out today, my tummy has gone down ALOT. I caught myself about to suck it in while imaging future weight lost. I usually suck it in while excercising too (but I haven't since banded). Does anyone know if it causes any damage to suck in your belly?
Elisabethsew 50 Posted April 11, 2006 I was told that the only time you have to worry about abdominal muscles is the first six weeks post-op. After that, exercising is fine. As for sucking your stomach in... I really can't see it would problem at all during the post-op phase but you might want to double check with the MD.
kabeerah 0 Posted April 12, 2006 I don't know, I guess I'm picturing myself sucking it in and the band slipping around it...Probably highly unlikely for someone my size, but it made me think.
niki 1 Posted April 12, 2006 No way! I mean, if you had your surgery 6 or 8 weeks ago, there should be no problem whatsoever. I asked my doctor if there was any sort of exercise (abdominals, push ups, etc) that i should avoid because of the band and he said no, on the contrary, the more you suck it in and work it out, the better. We do need to work all that area because when loosing weight ,skin and muscle tissues will become flacid and saggy. niki
