No Exercise

Recommended Posts

To loose weight...It is all about burning more calories than you consume on any given day....always has been, always will be.......

All diets (which most of us failed at otherwise we would not be here) are aimed at getting us to eat less - less calories consumed......it is up to us to burn more than we consumed, and that is

something we have to do...no one can do it for us. There is no surgery for that.....

500 calories MORE than we consume per day if you want to loose 1 lb of weight per week.....talking real genuine fat weight...not the quick pre and post op weight everyone quickly looses (and gains) but genuine fat burning weight......

This is a three-legged stool made up of the band, food and exercise.

I LIKE that! Going to have to remember that one! Thanks! :)

I'm no exercise guru but in order to get the procedure done I have been attempting to exercise and believe it or not A LOT if things count as exercise, not just the gym. Take for example bowling, swimming, and even cleaning house or working in the yard! So I started to focus on the things I like and increase intensity as I go

I don't know if anyone has ever brought this up' date=' but I'm wondering if I choose not to exercise if that will be bad? I look at it this way,........I have never exercised. After I lose weight, I will probably not exercise again. So, my thought is, why exercise now if I know that I will not continue the habit? Just a thought. Just let the weight come off slower.[/quote']

Just know it takes 21 days to stick to a new habit.

I had to sign a contract with my doctor that I will exercise. I gave him my word, so now I have no choice. I know it will be difficult, especially because of my spine issues effecting my legs, but I've already started a little bit on the treadmill. I'm only up to 6 minutes, but it is a start. I can't walk outside or in a mall because I need something to hold on to. But the treadmill works. So for me, I'm going to exercise for the rest of my life! Maybe not gung ho enough to gain major muscles, but enough to get myself feeling better. That is what it is all about for me. Not being skinny--I just want to feel better.

"Exercise" doesn't have to mean sweating on a treadmill or working out in a group class at the gym. If you find a way to broaden your idea of "exercise," you may find that you will like moving your body--and it won't feel like "exercise." In the mornings, I watch my pet house-rabbit running around, kicking up his feet, and doing the funniest of little flips, and I'm reminded that animals move their bodies (exercise) because that's what bodies like to do. Good luck on your new journey! You'll find what works best for you. :)

Wow! More WLS docs should do this!

More power to.you for finding what you CAN do rather than your limits! And you will find yourself doing more and more as you keep it up! Good job!

I want to add that since exercising...

1. I feel great

2. I have more energy

3. I sleep better

4. I am losing a lot of inches

5. My body is shaping/forming

6. My skin glows ( I don't know if this is exaggeration, but I can see it in my face)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
