BigOBoy123 67 Posted March 25, 2013 Well, I just sent all my required paperwork out this morning in the mail. I am hoping I hear something quickly. I have hounded my doctors office to death about trying to make sure I send everything the insurance company needs in order to make this as quick as possible. If approved I still have to meet with the psych and nut doctors but from what I have read on here, that's a one time thing. So maybe ill be approved, meet with them and get to set my surgery date. I have never had any surgery in my life so I am nervous but excited as I'm sure most on here can relate with. Please pray that all goes well.

herestoanewme 6 Posted March 27, 2013 I was just approved with bcbs fep. Psych eval, 3 months physician supervised diet, 5 yr weight history, letter from physician, personal letter from you, document of failed diet attempts, nutritionist visit. That's what I remember off the top of my head. They sent per-approval within 2 business days!
BigOBoy123 67 Posted March 28, 2013 My Doctors office called me today and told me that they had recieved my paperwork and that they wanted to schedule my psych eval appointment. She said that is was highly unlikely that I would be denied since I sent them above and beyond their requirements such as a referral letter from my Family Doc, and blood work showing I am diabetic, my obstructive sleep apnea paperwork, High BP, and others too. I am scheduled for my psych eval on Monday morning. Since they are setting me an appointment to meet the psych, is this an indication that things are going good in the process? Just wondering. Thanks.
herestoanewme 6 Posted March 28, 2013 At my doc office so I'm assuming its all of them as long as your with bcbs fep, the psych eval must be done before its sent to the insurance company.
ladybug108 7 Posted March 29, 2013 BigOBoy, are you saying the surgeon sent in the paperwork to the insurance company without the psych and nutrionist appt? I thought that was part of the approval process and they sent all of that together or were you saying you sent all of that stuff to the surgeon? Sorry for being confused, lol!! I go see my nutrionist on Tuesday! I had to restart my 3 month weight loss program. The surgeon didn't think that BCBS FEP would take it from Aug-Nov 2011. BigOBoy123 67 Posted March 31, 2013 I'm sorry. I should have been more specific. I sent all my paperwork to my surgeon. I go for my psych eval this Monday.
herestoanewme 6 Posted March 31, 2013 If that is the last thing you needed, I'm sure it will be sent in ASAP after they get the psych results
BigOBoy123 67 Posted March 31, 2013 What can be expected when meeting with the psych doctor? My appt. is at 9:30 in the morning.
SueBee01 630 Posted March 31, 2013 Don't go expecting anything! They ask about family support and how you feel about what you are getting onto. Really not bad stuff mostly if you know what you are getting in to and your expectations. I have heard that some have talked about depression, etc., so if you have that feel free to talk about it and ow you manage it.

SueBee01 630 Posted March 31, 2013 Once you finish everything, the process is real quick. I was approved on 24 hours. The three month supervised goes really quick too if you haven't been through that yet? Take that time to start making changes, small ones at first. It will make banded life much easier! I stopped sweet tea and bread while waiting. Your taste buds will change also. I am eating things I never would have eaten pre band!
