Think I'm going to have to unfill, but how much?

Recommended Posts

So I am a week out from my last fill of 1.5cc which put me at about 4.5cc in a 10cc band. I am extremely tight and still unable to get down softs like yogurt. I am even having trouble with liquids and slider foods. Not to mention awful gurgling, gas pain, and indigestion. I hoped it would get better by now but it hasn't and I need to get some nutrients down.

I don't want to have the whole 1.5 taken out because I needed more restriction. So what should I request?

Your doctor should have a much better grasp on this than anyone here? Most surgeons aren't going to ask you what you want and will empty based on their experience with you and other patients? But, I'll venture a SWAG with maybe .25-.50 CCs?

I had the same problem with my fill in nov. went back and Dr. Removed about 2 drops. Made all the difference in the world . No gurgling or gagging . You'll be fine .

Going for my second fill tomorrow. I'm relying. on Dr to make the call, if I become too tight ,I will rely on his judgement to remove what he thinks is best.

Thanks for the replies! I've got an appointment tomorrow so we'll see how it goes. My fear is that they will take too much out which was the reason for the question. I will post an update tomorrow.

Update: I had 1cc removed and feel much better! I will probably need some put back in soon, but their philosophy was better safe than sorry and after a week of misery, I can appreciate that ;)

The office called said my band is wide open now and they think something fibrous was stuck and cleared..they want me to get a fill going in 3 weeks. Its true though I can eat now..the bad part is even with that small unfill the hunger has returned..i had no hunger before...let the will power kick in!

I am in the same situation. I have lots of sliming and not much weight loss. My surgery was 16 months ago and I've only lost 25 pounds and most of that was in the month pre-surgery. I don't know what to do. Feeling frustrated and need advice. Start over?

Gatecrasher, you should start your own thread/topic if you want responses. Otherwise members won't know which response goes to which poster.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
