Which foods to avoid for new bands

Recommended Posts

Popcorn is funny.... for me it goes down fine but I spend the next hour bringing up the skins of the kernels... But I eat it alot... Not the kind in the movie theatre... the 100 calorie bags from the store.

I cannot do popcorn.< /p>

Thanks for all the info. I'm really wanting to try scrambled eggs but read that 50% have stuck episodes.

I have no trouble with scrambled eggs. I eat two almost every morning. I cook them lightly scrambles so they are moist.

How about poached eggs? I always wondered why popcorn was on the no-no list of some doctors. I love the Healthy Jolly Time and really miss it.

I have been banded for 4 months and can eat anything. bread is getting more difficult for me.....not stuck, but 3x have had to drink Water to 'push it down'. Other times, bread is perfectly fine.

Rose.... don't fall into the habit of eating and drinking to "push" things down. If bread is getting hard, stop now before you do damage to your band. lots of people who start doing this find out its away to eat "around" the band. You want to optimize your weight loss and use your tool correctly. This means eating good healthy Proteins and veggies.... going easy on the carbs and avoid as much as possible the bads... Ice cream, candy, Cookies..... I will be the first to admit that over the past few months i have falling to the Ice cream devil. And for that i have gained 6lbs since Feb 2012. Which i know is not bad... but it's not good either...

I also know that some doctors are saying that drinking while you eat is ok, but i still follow my Doctor and the Majority of the LB patients here and Not drink while i eat. I wait 30 min. after.

Hope you luck and happy losing,......

Thanks for the reminder. I did talk to my clinic today, they think I am not far from restriction. I just have to remember to keep chewing. The 3x were certainly not stuck episodes, just a little trapped. Have a good day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
