DisplayName 10 Posted January 2, 2013 I am day 2 post op and just realized...following my diet EXACTLY puts me at 220 calories per day. is this normal?
MiniMi 1,468 Posted January 2, 2013 Two days out that sounds about right. But you should be introducing Protein Shakes here shortly. That will bump you up to about 500 cal. Stay hydrated! 2 Maddysgram and DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! reacted to this
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted January 2, 2013 Mini is right. You have a lot of swelling going on right now, doesn't leave room for too much. Make sure you stay hydrated. Good Luck & Happy New Year! Just think next NYs you're going to look awesome. Woohoo 2 SnowgirlnTX and MiniMi reacted to this
DisplayName 10 Posted January 2, 2013 I am already on Protein Shakes. I can have 2-4 oz Protein Shake 3 times a day, plus any calorie free noncarbonated liquid. and thats it. the 220 calories is what i am getting daily from my Protein shakes. i started those day 1 postop
SkinnyCubanChick 150 Posted January 2, 2013 Yep! Don't worry every day will be better as swelling goes down!
blondegal_ 1,028 Posted January 2, 2013 I too only got in 200-300 calories those first few days. My doctor allows solid food after day ten and even eating as directed I'm at 700-800 only. I feel ok so I'm not going to worry. I know I'll be maxing out my 1200 calories soon. 1 MiniMi reacted to this

Pana'sNewStart 68 Posted January 2, 2013 Yes, that is completely normal. That first week, I was lucky to 400 calories a day. Really, your Protein Shakes are all about all you're going to be able to get down and it's all you'll want and be able to hold. Remember, to walk!!
DisplayName 10 Posted January 3, 2013 What is confusing me now is that I am gaining a pound every day LOL. I am taking in 220 calories a day for 3 days straight and am gaining a pound a day. I am being very active all throughout the day, cleaning house, etc. its so strange. I am wondering if i am just going to wake up one day and be 10 pounds lighter?? how could i possibly be gaining weight? it has to all be Fluid. IDK.
MiniMi 1,468 Posted January 3, 2013 It is Fluid. Don't take it to heart and don't overdo it either. Just take care of yourself. You've just had surgery and that's a big deal. Everything else will work out if you settle in and embrace the journey!
