vlp1968 83 Posted January 1, 2013 well.... 40 pounds really must have made a significant change. I think you just aren't seeing it. It is a lot for the mind to catch up to the body. The psyc that was part of my surgery team had me take a picture of myself once a month and flip through it periodically- in a non-judgemental way. I went all out and had my friend take a picture each month in the same bathing suite and made a scrapbook.

farmgirl04 231 Posted January 1, 2013 As I lose I get much more critical of my body. It happens to me every time. I think I go into a severe case of denial when gaining so it is always a shock to me when I start looking again. One thing that I try to do with my weight loss is put it in terms I understand- a stick of butter, a bag of flour, and your loss- my friend -is almost an entire bag of sheep grain! That's a lot! Think about carrying that around all day! You may not be allowing yourself to see it, but are you feeling it yet? Great work, keep up the wonderful job! loseit 28 Posted January 2, 2013 I feel the same way. I have people comment saying "wow how much weight have you lost?" Others can see it but I can't. This is what keeps me going.
TriciaLN 177 Posted January 2, 2013 I didn't start really noticing it until 30 lbs lost. You'll notice, just give yourself some time. I also take pics of myself once a month to see the progress I've made. I'm almost 6 months out and down 50 total. I look back at the first pic and think, "Wow....50 lbs is a BIG difference!" Good luck on your journey!
Pebbagirl 131 Posted January 2, 2013 I weigh and take measurements once a week.
SkinnyCubanChick 150 Posted January 2, 2013 Remember that muscle weighs more than fat! You are taking in Protein and exercising which builds muscle as the fat is pushed out! Don't worry much about weight right now and try on some clothes and you'll see the difference! Plus in my case, people can see what I can't!!
