I've finally got my surgery date of January 30th! I will do a 2-week pre-op diet of 3 Protein Shakes daily. I plan to take about a week off work but have yet to tell my boss... I'm struggling with whether to tell him it's Lap-Band surgery or just tell him it's surgery of a "personal nature." (Any thoughts here?) Social eating is a big thing for me, and the idea of not having three-course meals when out with my friends is taking some getting used to. But that's one of the bad habits that's gotten me in trouble. I am so ready for this. My boyfriend, close friends and family are awesome supporters. I attended my family's big holiday party Saturday night and kept dreaming about what I'll look and feel like at that party a year from now! :)

My date is the 30th too! And I'm just getting my surgeon to wirte a doctor's excuse for me to be under medical care...it's none of their business what I'm having done. At least that's my opinion on that.

I meet with my surgeon again on 7 January for more specifics. I have a friend here that used the same surgeon so she's been telling me everything she went through.

I'm ready for a new me!

Keep me posted as we get closer to "our" date!

There is no law that you are required to tell him. But if you do, make sure you are very specific and state that this is confidential. He would not want to be in violation of confidentiality

Just a quick update from me. I decided not to tell my boss what surgery I was having; he just knows it's surgery. He didn't ask questions. He probably thinks it's my "lady parts" and doesn't want to know! Fine with me!

Anyway, I am down to 2 days of "real food" before I start the pre-op diet (3 daily Protein shakes only) on Wednesday. I am trying not to eat all manner of crap, but at the same time, I'm like, OK, what I eat before Wednesday is the last things I'll get to CHEW for 6 to 8 weeks!

About a week ago, I eliminated snacking between meals, hoping that would help. But I really should've started cutting down my portions too, to prepare for the adjustment. I have 2 days now to do that - smaller meals.

I have a friend coming to town for the weekend on Friday. Hoping I'm not "hangry" - so hungry I'm angry... I'll have to send my boyfriend out to eat with my friend. I don't think I can sit in a restaurant and have only Water.

BF and I also grocery-shopped for things he can cook himself for the next couple of weeks. I told him I'm not going to be in the kitchen preparing his meals every night while I can't eat. I guess I will have to smell the yummy food smells - not much I can do about that. He has been awesomely supportive.

That's all from my neck of the woods. Hope you're all doing well! - Care to reply with your own updates?

Becky

Hi...the preopt diet is hard for the first few days, but don't give in! I've lost 17 lbs so far and surgery isn't until Thursday. The first couple of days I did have Soup for dinner as I couldn't stand not having any 'substance' but I've weaned myself off that. I recenlty discovered powder Peanut Butter and mix it with my chocolate Protein Shake. Remember you can have popsicles and drink lots and lots of Water or crystal light. Keep in touch!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
