The Best Thing about Lap Band and New Years

Recommended Posts

This year and for the past 3 I did not have to make a New Tears Resolution to lose weight. Ever since I can remember I entered every New Years wishing I was thin and planning my diet . And every year I failed .

Now with my Lap Band I don't have to do that ever again. food is still something I eat but it has been replaced as my comforter and go to thing. I am finally free and I"m lovIng it. And my wish for all of you that you all can feel this way soon.

If it were easy it wouldn't be so special , It was the best thing I ever did for myself and I want it for all of you. BEING THIN IS BETTER THEN ANYTHING I EVER ATE. And it last alot longer. HAPPY NEW YEAR may it be your best one ever.

I can relate! This is the first time ever that I didn't gain weight over the holidays. I can't wait to see where I am next New Year's Eve! I wish you continued success.

Hi Mayasgram, wondering where you were.

In the past I never made a resolution b/c I knew I would break it, why bother.

This year I'm so excited. Still not going to make resolution, but not b/c of past failure, but b/c I know I already have what it takes to succeed.YAY!

I too, want everyone to succeed with their bands. So may everyone have a healthy, happy 2013!

I agree with you all. I went to the gym this afternoon and for the first year in life I will not be joining a gym as a New Year's resolution. Going to the gym is just what I do. Happy New Year All!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
