Eating Too Much?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill about 2 weeks ago on thursday, he put 3 cc's of Fluid in my 11 cm band. I still feel like I'm able to eat waaaaaaaaaaay too much. Just now I had 2 steaks a, little brocoli and some shrimp. and those steaks weren't small either. they were long. medium sized steaks. Why is this? I've been trying to go walking, because the gym doesn't seem that appetizing for me? Can anyone tell me what to do to prevent from eating so much?

And just in case anyone is wondering this is what I had today

Breakfast:

1 bowl of shredded mini wheats w/ skim milk

Snack:

1/2 of Cinnamon Crunch Bagel from Panera bread w/ reduced fat hazelnut cream cheese

Lunch:

2 slices of beef brisket, and about 1 cup of fries a couple of cinnamon sliced apples

Dinner:

Steak (approx.6-7 oz.) about 10 shrimp a little cajun rice and broccoli

:help:

I have been in a struggle too with eating. I don't eat much at one time but am constantly thinking about foods. I have been trying to take whatever portion I would have had before and cut it in half. Lay the fork down after each bite and make sure you chew chew chew. It takes a long time to eat and somehow it seems to work for me. I eat much less then. My problem is I want to graze bite by bite from one item to the next. Just a little but calories none the less. I guess accoutablility to our-selves is what I have been thinking of each and every time I want to

make a poor food choice. I think I have a large band too, and I have only had one fill but I could not eat that much meat. It seems to stick for me.

Maybe I still am eating too fast? I am going in for more fill on may 3rd.

My advise is just slow down and maybe you won't want to eat as much.

I know it is hard! I have been a lightening fast eater my entire life so I am still in the learning curve. Good luck!

I also felt like I could eat way too much after my 1st fill (2cc) in a 10cc band.

I am 10 weeks post op and have lost 33 lbs. I must say I feel like a lot of that has been by me controlling what I am eating. If I allowed myself I could eat a lot more. I try to choose low carb, low calorie, high Protein foods. A typical Breakfast for me is a 2.5 oz Protein Bar, 2 cups of coffee, lunch tuna or chicken salad, 3 or 4 crackers, dinner chicken, or beef, maybe up to 6 oz, sometimes with a vegetable. If I snack it is either low carb yogurt, or cheese, sometimes pretzels if I need crunchy, salty stuff.

After my second fill of 2 more cc's, I am more satisfied with less food, and need to chew really well. Chicken and beef can be hard to get down. I still could eat way too much though, so am looking forward to next fill in 2 weeks and hopefully more restriction. Drinking Water definately helps and I don't drink for an hour after a meal. Just try to be smart about your choices until the fills kick in. :clap2:

Hi Skinnimini, it sounds like you might want to get just another bump in your fill level. You are not doing that badly you know.

We, as bandsters, sometimes get a distorted view of what we "should" be eating. I think partly this comes because we've spent more than a month on very little.

A good rule of thumb for protien is about the size of your hand. That's your entire hand without the fingers, same thickness.

To me it doesnt really sound like you are eating too much, but that your carb count may be a little too high. Just a thought.

I have not had a fill yet but the dietician did suggest a "trick" to curb my appetite. She advised "water loading" with 12-16 ounces of Water about 10-15 minutes before a meal. I did this last night and actually felt full for the first time in a week.

Skinnymini... The only thing I noticed on your daily menu is that it was lacking in Protein. Bagels, fries, and mini wheats are not normal items for a bandster day of food. It is the slow and long chewing of the protein that tells your brain that you are full. We also need to be aware of not oversuffing our pouches, and stretching it, which can cause stomach slipping up into the pouch. It helps to eat off of a small plate, such as a saucer, which will hold more than you should eat. This of course are just some of the things I have found that work for me...

I just wanted to let you know I have the big band also. I could eat steak, bread and all those things up until my 8th fill. I have had 9 fills and have 9.6 mls in my band. I didnt have any type of restriction until I reached about 7mls.

Dont panic too much, it will hapen it just takes a little longer with the bigger band.

Good Luck

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
