Just enjoyed a glass of wine (not yet banded) and thought... Can u still do that after the band? Also I have occasionally gone out with my friends to the bars and probably drank more then I should... Can I do that after the band?

Many people enjoy a drink after being banded. I've had one or two recently, however when I do, I am sure to count them in my daily calories.

Alcoholic drinks are nothing but empty calories so just be careful not to over do it.

Hi there! I wanted to let u know. I'm 6 weeks post op. and still enjoying my drinks. I'm 25 and we still go out and party a bit and drink more then I should a bit too. The only change I have made is cutting out cider (which I love) its too gassy and upsets the works a little. I'm a wine girl anyway so it was fine for me. Just stay away from carbonated stuff. Stick with spirits mixed with juice, vodka lime and waters, wine. And eat before you go out! I do notice I get drunker quicker then I used to. Ohhhh to be young <3 I can see some of the older people shakin their heads at me. But u only live once :)

I'm not a regular drinker but I did have a small glass at christmas (my first since surgery at almost 12 weeks out) and it was fine.

You don't have to be young to enjoy a drink. I have a few wines very week. Sure the loss is a bit slower but I'm still losing

I am 18 and here in New Zealand that's the legal drinking age. Since alcohol is heavily in our Barbecue/backyard/laid back life style I know it's going to be IMPOSSIBLE to cut Alcohol out completely.

I plan on counting every alcoholic calorie and allowing for it once a week or so (and of course nothing carbonated.)

I know it's not ideal but its what works for me!

I have drinks fairly regularly and haven't had any issues...just stay away from carbonated stuff. Living with the band has really made me love wine now :)

I think what I see in most these threads is that most people will count their drink calories into their total for the days, enjoy if your doctor says ok just remember alcohol is empty calories and they can make some over eat because lowers you inhibitions . It is true many enjoy a drink or glass of wine and have no problems.

I would not have gotten the band if I could not drink on it. The thought of never having a glass of whiskey while I'm cooking or some wine with friends is upsetting...that's how I relax! Cutting out beer has not been too hard, but I miss it. Also, it can be the cheaper alternative to wine, so that's a bummer.

Not to be a black cloud but it concerns me when I see post like... It will be impossible for me to avoid alcohol... I am young and want to party once a week with my friends....

No one says you cannot drink with the band. But nothing is impossible to avoid and say no to. So if you do and want to continue to lose weight please be mindful of the calories.....and the food choices you make after a few drinks...

Before i was banded I drank socially 3/4 times a week entertaining for work and on social occasions.. Those occasions didn't change after I was banded, I just made a choice to drink Water instead. I had my first taste of alcohol after losing the first 100 lbs. I really didn't enjoy it. I just lost the taste for it and couldn't see the point of the empty calories. I will have wine now and again and on vacation I will have some fruity frozen drinks but that's pretty much it.... My weight loss has become to important to jeopardize .

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
