Are you chewing your food? I just had my first fill the beginning of December and I notice if I don't chew it will get stuck. I know it's hard to go from maybe chewing your food 3-4 times to 10-20. Are you sipping your drinks? If you still have this problem contact your doctor. And they will be able to assist you. Hope this helps...

First of all you need to stop drinking to try pushing the food through, it doesn't work as you've discovered and it will cause you to pb. Before banding we could do this but not with the band. Secondly after every fill we need to relearn how to eat, are your bites small enough? Try taking very very small bites and chew well and wait a minute or more between swallowing before putting more food in your mouth.

Sounds like you have some irritation happening too with all the stuck episodes so might be a good idea to go back to liquids then mushies then reintroduce solids to let everything settle down.

Eating and drinking with the band should not be painful. The size of the bites should be about the size of a fingernail, yes that small! I used to think my bites were small enough till my nutritionist showed me exactly how small small is in the land of lapband.

Not sure what your instructions are regarding drinking whilst eating but if you feel you must drink whilst eating you must also apply the minute rule with drinking. Take a tiny bite, chew well, swallow, wait a minute till the food has been squeezed through the band then take a tiny sip wait a minute etc.

I think if you slow right down with eating and take your small bites you should be ok.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
