My Fitness Pal confusion? net calories?

Recommended Posts

I am using My fitness Pal to track my calories. I also enter my exercise... i burn between 200-400 calories a few days a week, and when i enter my exercise for the day, it minuses those calories burnt from what i have eaten. I have it set at 1000 calories a day, but i end up consuming more than that cos of the calories burnt! Something like 1200 to 1400 a day depending on how much i work out.... But my net calories is always in the green so less than 1000... anyone else entering their exercise?

The days i don't work out, it's not a problem, i just have to eat less.

I am in bandster hell at the moment so basically on a normal diet. I am losing weight and can definitely feel it, but i do get confused everyday as to what i should be doing.

Sorry you're in Bandster hell. It'll get better.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question... Is it that it is adding more calories to eat or subtracting them so you have less? If the latter, I've never experienced that. If the former, see below.

On the days that you work out, you can do one of two things, 1). not log it so you don't get confused with calories or 2). Manually review your calories to ignore the calories burned, i.e. you know your daily target, just subtract your calories eaten from that. Your ending calories should always be = or > calories burned.

Thanks for your replies :)

So the consensus seems to be you guys either don't enter the calories burned or ignore the "net" figure and go off the calories consumed. Damn haha

I spend 45 mins on a bike or lots of walking to burn those calories... Don't you guys get really hungry working out and eating so little? Or is it just my bandster hell hungry stage.. I'm really good with Protein and Water intake, but still, if I work out I'm sooo hungry and find it impossible to concentrate on anything. And I'm a busy gal!

😄

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
