What does FULL feel like to you?

Recommended Posts

So I am 8 days post surgery and feeling pretty well back to normal!

Onward in the journey of eating again...

My question is: What does FULL feel like to you?

In the past few days I've gotten back my hunger, and I've been eating and I'm just curious what full feels like for others. Right now I'm sort of trying to look for signs from my band, because full or even stop isn't really a feeling I've gotten yet. I just sort of stop eating when I think I should be full based on how much I think I should be eating. (A few spoonfuls etc) It was a lot easier last week, but now it's a little confusing. I don't want to overeat.

So tell me! What's full feel like to you?

Well, there are a couple of things here. First, you shouldn't be looking to feel "full". The band should help us be satiated for hours between meals but it isn't meant to give you a full feeling. You can overeat w/ the band, if not careful. The guidelines I was given is no more than 1 cup of food per meal, being 3-4 ounces of Protein, 1/2 cup veggies, 1/4 starch. I am guessing you are in a "mushy" phase. You will likely feel hungry during this phase (bandster h-ll) but make sure to get Protein in each meal.

Drink (sip) liquids throughout day, as able and follow any instructions (menu plan) your doctor provided. Good luck! It does get better and when you start seeing results, it makes it all worth while.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
