I got my band February 11, 2010... I did pretty good my first year lost 60 lbs, then I got complacent and stopped trying... a year ago we moved to Washington and that's when I really stopped exercising.. rain was my excuse.. I gained back 10 lbs...

In July I had emergency back surgery, and they unfilled my band completly .. I got a fill afterwards but swelled shut and got some taken out the next day...

Finally, this month I got refilled under fleuro and am so tight again... the problem is, I'm so tight I'm unable to eat anything most days. coffee is difficult to get down I think because I put Creamer in it (sugar free) Water goes down ok, but very slow. I know I'm tight but there is no common ground with these drs. At both my appointments they draw out all the Fluid, measure it, then add to it. If I get some fluid out I'll be too loose like last time. And then it's another $375 for another fill. They don't do it by cc's, they do it by xray... I just don't know what to do :(

Its a shame doctors don't do volunteer work and lessen the amount for services rendered. The fills are so costly to you.

Best wishes

Well if you don't want to get Fluid out, you can wait it out to see if your band loosens. Creamer should not be an issue for coffee as it does not add any bulk to the coffee. Try to eat very very small amounts. As you lose the band will loosen or maybe you have swelling also from the fill.

I live just south of Olympia. Cheryl my fill was December 18th, do you think I could still be swollen? As of yet, I'm unable yo eat pretty much any solids. I had two days that were easier and I was able to eat almost a full turkey sausage link.

Just wish I could find a happy medium

Girl when I get a fill I stay swollen up to three weeks. Yes you can still be swollen. Some people just have very sensitive stomachs as I do. Yeah it's a little hellish but I deal with it and just try to eat very little and at that time only I rely on Protein Shakes to get me through.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
