mgbenavides2003 0 Posted December 27, 2012 Hi was banded 5 days ago right now I'm experiencing a lot of pain in my back n pain on my right side below my rib cage. Is this normal? What side is port usually placed on? Cause I can't seem to lay on my right side for too long and that's where I'm feeling the most pain. Anybody experience this? Also I've already lost 20 lbs since weighing in on week of Protein Shakes only prior to surgery. I'm keeping down liquids n dr wright of San Antonio says 2nd week begin soft foods. Has anyone done well with soft foods by 2nd week?
tarajill 63 Posted December 27, 2012 We were banded the same day. I have pain in my right upper abdomen as well. It is near my large incision so I assume it is my port site as well. More of a discomfort than pain really and nothing I'm taking pain meds for. As much as the drs differ on postoperative diets I'm sure they vary on port placement too. Best wishes! My port is right above my belly button. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Rojasanoll 920 Posted December 27, 2012 All of you, use your heating pad on high. Take your pain meds until you feel better.

rmckinn 0 Posted December 28, 2012 Hello I was banded 12/20. I don't have as much pain anymore I'm only taking the pain meds twice a day now. My experience has been that each day it gets a little easier. I am so ready to move on to the pureed stage but not until Jan 4th. Good luck!
beffy12 5 Posted December 30, 2012 I was banded on 12/21 and yes my discomfort is on my right side too below my large incision. I told my husband it's not pain it's more like a nagging, I just can't seem to get comfortable pain. I keep moving around trying to find my comfort spot but I usually lay a small pillow over that side and for some reason it seems to help. Hope it gets better for you. jrodriguez68 3 Posted January 1, 2013 Hi, I too was banded 12/21. The shoulder pain has been the worse part for me( from the Co2). It has been unbearable at times. Eating mashies has been tolerated well.
eperez 2 Posted January 1, 2013 I feel much better now. No pain just discomfort when I lie too long on my side. Hi I was banded on the 19 of December. Same doctor. I used two heating pads, one on my back and the other on my shoulders . I only had discomfort for 3 days. The port is on the right side right below rib cage.
