What a liberating moment for me!

Recommended Posts

I didn't know what forum to post this in, so I decided to post it here. As a pre-bandster, I am anxiously looking forward to starting my new life! I can NOT wait!! For years I've been up and down in weight, bought "skinny" clothes that some years I fit in to and others I did. I always kept them so when I did fit into them. Well, after years of hoarding these "skinny" wordrobes, today I decided to take the bull by horn. I decided that it was time to throw out the OLD "skinny" wordrobe- not because I am not going to fit into them, because I know I will, but because I don't want the go back to that kind of skinny... the skinny that stayed off only for a few weeks and then I went back up. I want to buy a brand new "skinny" wordrobe after I am banded... the lasting "skinny" wordrobe that will last me forever! I don't want to fit into my old "skinny" jeans.. I want my new skinny jeans... ya know the ones that I will always fit into! It felt so liberating to say "good bye" to my old wordrobe... 6 large garbage bags of clothes are now out of my closet. I have hangers galore that are anxiously waiting for my new wordrobe to arrive!!

I had to share what a magical moment this was for me today! :)

My closet was holding sizes 24 to 14. I have been getting rid of them so fast it's unbelievable. Getting ready to get rid of 18's. It's happening faster than I thought it would.

I kept one pair of 24 jeans just for comparison when I hit goal. Notice I said "when" not if.lol

This surgery is the best gift I have ever given myself and I' m excited for you to start this journey too.

Right now, I'm wearing my happy pants.

Best Wishes on your new life of health & wellbeing!

I am not a saver of most things which I consider disposable so I love that you did this.. As I was losing I too had a few days of weeding out until finally one day there was nothing left.... It was the best feeling. And my skinny jeans I had from that minute in the 90s when I was thinner.... We're a size 14 so they are gone too.....

I did keep on pair of black shorts which I wore the heck out of rolled up in a bag in the back of my closet. They are sized 4x...and as I move thru this journey I will stumble upon them every so often and never forget where I have been.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
