SkinnyCubanChick 150 Posted December 27, 2012 Sweetie I am 13 days post op and I have started mushies today! Not because I'm hungry but because with the hiatal hernia repair I was having more gas accumulation and up a few times a night. I had 1/4 cup cooked long grain rice with stewed chicken sauce for lunch and dinner. I feel much better, expelled a lot of gas and just made sure it was liquified before I swallowed! ♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted December 27, 2012 It is very important you follow your doctor's orders right now. Your body is healing from major surgery. The band is stitched to your stomach and that needs to heal. If you start eating too soon those stitches can break and you could have complications. I don't mean to scare you (ok maybe I do) but it is really important to follow the post op diet. Don't worry about calories at this point. If you are hungry have another Protein shake or more Soup or a sugar free popsicle. I know it's tough but please stick to your doctors orders. You can make it through this. 3 FLORIDAYS, kazjim98 and sayyida reacted to this

Has anyone else started Puréed foods early No..and I do not advise it. If it were ok your dr would have told you to start mushies early. Your stomach is healing after having a foreign object placed around it. Eating food right now could do some serious damage, please wait until your dr gives you the green light. 1 ♕ajtexas♕ reacted to this

Annie1976 11 Posted December 27, 2012 My nurse explained that when u eat solids/textured foods your stomach twists and turns more during digestion which is why liquids are recommended for so long. This helped me a little .
