A big part of that could be Water weight and swelling from surgery.

Also keep in mind that liquids doesn't necessarily mean low calories. If you're drinking a lot of juice or other high sugar/high calorie liquids, those calories can add up very quickly.

I'm still very swollen in the abdomen since surgery 12/6. This is normal and will just take time to go down. Give yourself about six weeks to have swelling down and drink lots of Water to help with Fluid retention.

This is totally normal. You are still very swollen from surgery and also need to focus on healing right now, not losing. I would keep in mind though what MIssy said about sugary or hi-cal drinks, in case you are doing that.

I know we want it to start falling off but your body is still healing. It will happen.

I thought it might have something to do with swelling but to not have ANY loss considering Im eating a 1/8th what I usually do seems odd.....guess it will catch up eventually.

Many people do not begin to lose until 4-6 weeks out after the healing has progressed and the Water retention is down. It will catch up! :)

Sigh. I'm 3 weeks post op and needed that reminder myself. Oh, I know it's true and didn't expect a loss but am just frustrated. Going to strt up my walking routine again as soon as this snow melts. That should make a big difference.

If you eliminate a lot of your sodium intake and greatly reduce your carb/sugar intake, your body will shed a ton(Ok, maybe only 10-15 lbs) of excess fluids. Give it a try?

I completely agree with 2muchfun! I don't do fruit juice or salted broth and I have lost 14 pounds since being banded 12/14. Also, the more Water and crystal light I drink, the more I lose!

I havent been drinking any fruit juice at all, low sodium broths and minimal solids but I must admit I have not been drinking much Water so it is quite possible I am retaining. I know it will catch up.....eventually (cross fingers) but in the mean time its pretty frustrating cuz I paid for mine outta pocket, no insurance. I was hoping for something a little more drastic.

sugar and salt will make you retain Fluid. Drink lots of Water and you still have swelling

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
