DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted December 27, 2012 A big part of that could be Water weight and swelling from surgery. Also keep in mind that liquids doesn't necessarily mean low calories. If you're drinking a lot of juice or other high sugar/high calorie liquids, those calories can add up very quickly. 1 Maddysgram reacted to this
Sheilam123 21 Posted December 27, 2012 I'm still very swollen in the abdomen since surgery 12/6. This is normal and will just take time to go down. Give yourself about six weeks to have swelling down and drink lots of Water to help with Fluid retention.
MsRhonda 123 Posted December 27, 2012 Me too im swollen a little n my port is a little irritated so its normal IM MY OWN MOTIVATION
highness38 8 Posted December 27, 2012 Me too. No weight loss since banded on 12/4 but i was told to expect that????
A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted December 27, 2012 This is totally normal. You are still very swollen from surgery and also need to focus on healing right now, not losing. I would keep in mind though what MIssy said about sugary or hi-cal drinks, in case you are doing that. I know we want it to start falling off but your body is still healing. It will happen. 7 dee257, ☠carolinagirl☠, Sheilam123 and 4 others reacted to this
banded121512 2 Posted December 27, 2012 I thought it might have something to do with swelling but to not have ANY loss considering Im eating a 1/8th what I usually do seems odd.....guess it will catch up eventually.
A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted December 27, 2012 Many people do not begin to lose until 4-6 weeks out after the healing has progressed and the Water retention is down. It will catch up! 8 banded121512, CHEZNOEL, ♕ajtexas♕ and 5 others reacted to this
Pebbagirl 131 Posted December 27, 2012 Sigh. I'm 3 weeks post op and needed that reminder myself. Oh, I know it's true and didn't expect a loss but am just frustrated. Going to strt up my walking routine again as soon as this snow melts. That should make a big difference. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and Maddysgram reacted to this
2muchfun 8,927 Posted December 27, 2012 If you eliminate a lot of your sodium intake and greatly reduce your carb/sugar intake, your body will shed a ton(Ok, maybe only 10-15 lbs) of excess fluids. Give it a try? tmf 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
SkinnyCubanChick 150 Posted December 27, 2012 I completely agree with 2muchfun! I don't do fruit juice or salted broth and I have lost 14 pounds since being banded 12/14. Also, the more Water and crystal light I drink, the more I lose! 4 2muchfun, A New New Dawn, Maddysgram and 1 other reacted to this
banded121512 2 Posted December 28, 2012 I havent been drinking any fruit juice at all, low sodium broths and minimal solids but I must admit I have not been drinking much Water so it is quite possible I am retaining. I know it will catch up.....eventually (cross fingers) but in the mean time its pretty frustrating cuz I paid for mine outta pocket, no insurance. I was hoping for something a little more drastic. cheryl2586 3,053 Posted December 28, 2012 sugar and salt will make you retain Fluid. Drink lots of Water and you still have swelling 3 CHEZNOEL, ☠carolinagirl☠ and ♕ajtexas♕ reacted to this
