well, when you got this band, i hope the dr told you it would not be easy...there is a reason we do the pre and the post op diets..i agree its very hard.

since july, (after my post op days) i havent had one bit of soup as i was so tired of it for a month straight. trust me, been there/done that...

it takes more than will power...all about WANT power....you have to want this bad enough to stay with it..if you give in now, you will only hurt yourself and you came too far for that....

This is a tough phase you're going through you have to find the strength to get through it. Why are you only eating mashed potatoes on your mushie stage? You know with a blender you can mush all the good choices up and it will make things a bit more interesting. Even if you see your doc and you get a fill it won't mean you will hit greenzone right away, you may be one of the lucky ones but if not its going to take a few fills and a few months to get there.

Try keeping really busy, maybe go for walks when you feel like you're loosing it.

It will get easier you just have to find ways to get through this tough stage and it will all be worth it.

I agree with Carolinagirl, you have to motivate yourself at this point. I hate Soup too! My hubby keeps making soups; he shares them with the extended family because i just don't want any! I guess after you are past that stage, you don't want anymore! I, also, ate up the sugar free popsicles like they went out of style! They can get you through the hardest times! Good luck and happy New year to the new you! Karen

Hang in there and use your blender if you have one. There are many things you can be eating right now besides mashed potatoes. Yogurt, sugarfree pudding, refried Beans, sugarfree oatmeal, blended meats, eggs, chicken salad, tuna salad. Anything soft you should be able to eat now.

Rhonda. I am sorry you are frustrated. The first few months are the hardest.... like others said you have to want it very badly to make it through. .how are you doing with sticking to the portion sizes and calorie counting we talked about?

get into the doctor and do get a fill and be sure to find out when you can get another if u need it mine said every 2 wks. I have had 3 and in the green zone. I am worried today I ate Cookies yesterday and all on my plate which took a long time so I broke all the rules and hope my brain didn't get any idea that every day will be that way....

Wendy's chili! And you'll love your Ninja. I love mine. I cook sausage and then throw it in the Ninja and crumble it up then eat a couple of tablespoons. Just watch the fat content.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
