I am scheduled for lap band surgery in a few weeks. At my per op I told them I couldn't take codine. They gave me Percocet in pill form. I was told to crush it put in apple sauce. For 24 hours after surgery I am only to have liquids. So how am I to do this? Any suggestions? Can I c cut it in fours snd just swallow

Cut it in fours and swallow with Water, spacing the time in between each one. I was able to take capsules with no problem post op.

To Make cutting easy I bought a pill cutter at the drug store...a few bucks and have been using it ever since. I am surprised the Percocet doesn't come in liquid.< /p>

IF cutting them in quarters and swallowing one at a time makes you uneasy, you could also get a pill cutter or a pill crusher. I have both but only used the crusher a few times, I simply chew most things or quarter/half them & swallow.

Aimy, Ive gathered that pain is different with each person I did see someone mentioned they were into day 9 & still feeling pains. . No joke, as I was reading your post I just got a fresh now bout of MASSIVE gas pain in my left shoulder & thought it had finally gone away (I'm 6 days post op), I do have small, tiny, dont really bother to mention them pains in 3 out of my six smaller incisions,

I'm wondering how many incisions peopl averaged? I have six small (less than 1 inch) and one big one of 3 inches.

Hi, I am 10 days post op and allergic to all pain meds except Percocet. You will need a pill crusher and a small medicine cup. Crush your pill and fill the cup with flavored juice. Chug it down it passes ok then fill the cup again and rinse down. I still have port pain but not enough for meds! The gas is what's still killing me because I had hiatal hernia repair. Peppermint tea works better than Gas-x! Hope I was able to help!

I know that you can cut them very small and swallow but you run the chance of burning a hole in the thinned out stomach lining! The Percocet is very irritating! Don't risk it it isn't worth it. You'll only need them for a few days anyway!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
