Thanks for the info' date=' guys, but what about satiety? Does drinking right until you eat affect that?[/quote']

Well if u sip no. It's just to moisten the esophagus. It's not like you are to drink a full 6 or 8oz glass of Water. Just a few sips like the day of your surgery if u have medications that you must take they will tell you to take if with a small sip of Water. Just small sips just enough to dampen/moisten your esophagus. Your not drinking that much to get full.

And my dr said to sip during my meals. With all this reading on here I'm now confused. Sip/no sip???

Do what your doctor tells you to do.

But, there are several schools of thought on this subject. I sip and many Aussie's also sip. I'm not an Aussie but the doctors in Australia seem to have a different take on the drinking while eating issue. There has been at least one study that says sipping one minute after a bit is OK. But, again, do what your doctor tells you to do.

IMO, no it doesn't. Satiety is achieved by the stomach massaging food through the stoma and into the lower stomach. This squeeze places pressure against the lining of the stomach where there are nerves that send a signal to your brain that you've eaten enough. Or, that's the theory this year.

Water will pass right through the band into the lower stomach and be absorbed or pass through the lower sphincter into your small intestines.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
