Minimizing the appearance of scars

Recommended Posts

Any advice on what to use to minimize the appearance of scars? I haven't had surgery yet but just thinking about what u all have done? Any creams or methods that you've used to minimize them?

Also do u have pictures?

I don't have pictures, but will take one for you to see what the scars look like 3 months out. They are much smaller than immediately post surgery already, so I don't think they are going to be noticeable after a year or so. I know my tubal scars were pretty much gone after about 2 years. The key is to make sure your surgeon is using skin glue instead of sutures for the skin layer when he closes. Generally they do, but it doesn't hurt to ask before surgery.

If anyone can tell me how to import a photo, I would appreciate it!

i am 6 months out and my biggest scar was about 2 inches long and is a very faint pink now..barely noticable...the other4 incisions, you cant even see. truthfully, its not really worrying about.

I had 5 incisions. By 3 months post op I could only see 2.... And sometime in the last 24 months those have also disappeared. I didn't use anything.

Now that I have had my Tummy Tuck I will be buying some merdema cream to help this one along since it's hip to hip...but the dr said it should fade on its on within a year since I am past the collagen producing years.... But I am not taking any chances....lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
