Hello everyone! Just wondering if any of you all had any advice on what to do with gas pains? I had my lap band done yesterday and I've been doing the whole walking around and changing positions, but it seems like nothing is helping. As soon as I go to lay down I get these excruciating gas pains that have me in tears. Just wondering if there's anything that has worked for y'all.

The heating pad literally saved me. I was banded on the 12th and I kept it on my lower stomach for two days straight, it really soothes the pain.

Walking also. I live in New England so walking outside is hard but just a few times around my house was also a relief!

Good luck!

I wasn't able to lay flat for a week! Try sleeping in a recliner or on the couch. Gas x strips or chewable has tablets taken regularly help lots. Use a heating pad over your belly or where ever it hurts. Drink warm decafinated tea, this helpe me the most of all! Keep walking! This will pass soon and you will feel much better! Hang in there!

The heating pad is what helped me also. And my dr told me that when I walk around the house, to try to stand up straight, and it did seem to help.

I know the walking seems like it doesn't work but it does eventually....hang in there and take gas x if you can for some temporary relief.

It will get better. It's been 10 days since my surg and I still have some shoulder pain a little. But the first few days were BAD. I did all the above and it all helped. Hang in there!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
