BandedBettyBoop 36 Posted December 22, 2012 1/4 dark meat from Boston market to be exact. As I was finishing I felt a small bone mid chew. I went to get it out and accidently swallowed it. Idiot. So I started feeling pressure in my chest soon afterwards. I haven't had a fill yet (3 wks post op) so I'm not sure what it is to be "stuck". I kinda freaked out & called my doc. They don't normally recommend it, but he suggested I drink Coke to try to fix whatever the deal is. I drank it. But other than feeling sugar shooting through my body I don't know if It's helped yet. I felt something moving around for a bit, but I still feel some weirdness going on. How long should I wait before I try the next suggestion? (Meat tenderizer mixed with some water... Yuck)
Wgbem 138 Posted December 22, 2012 I would call my doctor if you feel something moving around. Be careful.
FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted December 22, 2012 I would say if you have severe pain or cannot swallow liquid it would be time to call the dr again...before I tried the meat tenderizer .... 2 ♕ajtexas♕ and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

I would double check that. 1 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! reacted to this
Pebbagirl 131 Posted December 22, 2012 My doc suggests papaya enzyme for stuck episodes. You can get it at Wal mart in the Vitamin section. I haven't been stuck yet but I bought some just to have on hand. 1 kazjim98 reacted to this
BandedBettyBoop 36 Posted December 22, 2012 I'm not in pain. It's just uncomfortable. Floridays I can drink liquids fine. It's weird. I'm going to try hot tea. Wildrose, Gotta remember all docs are different so just because your doc says no, doesn't mean my doc is wrong. Pebba ill have to try that next time... Unfortunately I'm sure this won't be the last time I experience something like this.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted December 22, 2012 Carbonation (Coke) and meat tenderizer to get unstuck? With the Lap Band?? I don't mean this offensively, but that makes zero sense. Why would a doctor recommend something that the majority of other surgeons tell you to never do? I'd try the papaya enzymes Pebbagirl suggested. It's actually safe and makes sense. 2 zinhaa and MiniMi reacted to this
FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted December 22, 2012 If you are keeping down liquids then it doesn't sound like you did and major damage and hopefully the bone has pawed through your band. If it were me I would stay on liquids for the next few meals just to give it time to rest and heal if needed. Glad it wasn't more serious. Just curious..how big was the bone.? 1 ♕ajtexas♕ reacted to this
BandedBettyBoop 36 Posted December 22, 2012 Mis I haven't had a fill yet so its not like I can get an unfill. He normally wouldn't recommend it but he thinks it could help me with my current situation. "Why would a doctor recommend something that the majority of other surgeons tell you to never do?" Well that's a great question, I see that on here all the time. I'm 3 weeks post op but I'm not allowed puddings, oatmeal, veggies & tons of other things that other surgeons allow. Since my doctor went to medical school and I didn't, I'm going to trust him. 1 JerseyShoreDisneyDiva reacted to this
BandedBettyBoop 36 Posted December 22, 2012 It was tiny, I was eating a chicken thigh. I think something is working bc I'm feeling better than I did! I did eat some salmon just now and it went down fine. I think I may do liquids tomorrow. That's a good idea.
