Recommended Posts

Is there anyway your doctor can miss your port and how do you know? I had a new dr today and it just didn't feel right. I dunno maybe it felt weird cus I knew she was new or something. Any suggestions?

I would think it would be pretty hard to miss the port but I am no Dr.... you could ask her to take it all out and see how much is in there...

At my last fill my dr thought I might have a leak because he could only get 2 of the 5 cc's out but since I have had another fill of 5.5 cc's and no problems and I actually have some restriction now. When I asked him where the Fluid went he said sometimes when I pull the fluid out and inject it back in it feels like he is going through the port membrane and in reality he is just feeling the needle going through scar tissue. He said the only way to be 100% sure is to do the fill with fluro.

My last fill gave me another huge bruise and I really think they missed my port. It was a brand new practitioner very sore at port? Don't feel any new restriction at all! :(. I am going back next week to find a solution! Good luck with yours!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
