Got My Band 12/20

Recommended Posts

Can't sleep. Only real pain I think is bloating and the port spot.

Overall though I feel good. Just tired!!!!

I got banded on 12/19 - are you all still doing liquids or have you moved to mushies?

I'm still on liquids, just started full liquids this morning actually. Per my surgeon's instructions I can go to mushies on day 12 postop. Thankfully I'm not hungry at all....still having a hard time getting all my fluids and Protein in right now.

I am still sore but for the most part the pain is gone- I feel very lucky!

My doctor told me I could progress to mushies when I felt I was ready ... So far I have had a few spoons of grits, a scrambled egg, oatmeal, and mashed potatoes- a few spoons of all of that over a few days--- I am averaging about 6 spoons of mushies a day plus liquids

Also another great way to get Protein is a Gladiator smoothie from smoothie king - 40grams of Protein :)

I hope I am doing it right - when I read posts it concerns me because all of us are so different!!

I'm 5 days post op, feeling a lot better I don't have to take the pain meds as much. Still on liquids but still don't really have a appetite so the Soups and Protein Drinks are doing the trick, thank God! Down 3.5 lbs since I came home yay!!!

Hope everyone had a great New Years. I was in bed early and didn't have any festivities planned.

I'm doing well. A bit uncomfortable still @ 12 days post op.

Looking forward to shrinking in 2013!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
