December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!

Recommended Posts

Mine was yesterday and I went today for a fill. I've lost a little more than 60 lbs. And if I'm not in green zone I'm this >< close.

How much Fluid is in your band?

I am six months and four days out and I am stalled around 60 pounds loss. I try not to be upset dealing with the stall. Its not going to happen overnight. I go see my surgeon on Tuesday for another fill. I only have 3cc in a 10cc band. I feel great. There is a huge difference between the me in November and the me now. I am more active and I feel a lot better about myself. I am under 300 now- haven't been down this low in at least ten years. I am super excited about the progress that is being made. I hope you all are having a great experience as well.

How much Fluid is in your band?

I have no idea. I've read on here comment after comment that the amount doesn't really matter so I never ask. But I've had 5 fills. My doctor gives fills even if you are loosing as he doesn't want the loss to just be will power/dieting. He wants to get you properly adjusted.

As for being stalled - do you log all your food? Some say you can carb cycle to break a plateau. Or just by logging you might spot an area you can change. Best of luck!

i have a question? is anyone at a stall? i have been for about a month. i'll go up 3 pounds then i'd lose them. help <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I am stalled for sure and have been for almost 2 months! The scale goes up 2 pounds down 2 pounds constantly. I have about 6.5 cc on my band and I am always under 1000 calories. My doctor keeps saying its just a phase and it will just start falling off again but it's very discouraging

They are right! It will pass. Just keep doing everything that you are supposed to.

Remember, a stall doesn't mean you need a fill. Just push through it. Change how you are eating or change your exercise. Your body gets used to things so change it up a little!

I stalled twice for at least a month each while I was losing during the 13 months I was losing. Now I am maintaining.

Super frustrated! My doctors office calls today and tells me they won't take my insurance anymore. So now if I want to see him I would have to pay out if pocket! Well I can't do that so now I have to find a new doctor! Only 6 months after surgery I am extremely uncomfortable with the entire idea of that. Has anyone else switched doctors?

I have! Best decision I ever made! Hateful people at the other office!

Anyone else starting to stall out, I've been averaging about 6lbs a month, but seems like the dr really wants me hitting the 10lbs a month. I'm eating right, just don't have anytime to myself for serious exercise. I have a 3 year old and 1 year old and work nights. I got banded 12/12 and lost 64lbs and have 3ccs filled. Maybe get another fill next month to try to jump start things? Idk, feeling like I'm not doing enough...how is everyone else doing?

I am right there with you. I am playing with the same five pounds on the scale and it seems like I can't get past it. I was very used to seeing the scale moving downward. I am trying to stay positive though. I have not tipped back over 300. That in itself is good enough for me.

How's everyone doing at 8 months post-op? Down 80 lbs and feeling well. Hasn't been super easy but it's been worth it.

Well, it will be 8 months on the 28th. Have hit a plteau at a loss of 55 lbs lost. I feel better but I've got another 55 to go before I start maintaining that weight. It's a little frustrating as I still have not hit the green zone but still count my calories. I am a slow loser, always have been. I'll know the band is working when I finally hit ONEderland lol, I'm trying my best and still believe the band is a great tool for weight loss.

I think you band is working. 55 lbs is great! And there's no reason why losing slow is bad. I still have quite a ways to go. I have given myself two years to get to goal.

I am 8 months and 2 days post op and I have plateaued at 60 pounds loss. I went to my surgeon yesterday an I now have 5.5cc in a 10 cc band. The last couple of months have been busy and stressful. I have not been able to exercise as much and my eating choices have not been that great. Keeping in mind that this is a marathon and not a sprint, I am very happy with progress. We all should be thrilled with how far we come. I know it's easy to get bummed when you are others losing more but everyBODY is different. We can do this. We will get to goal!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
