Full or stuck food?

Recommended Posts

What's the difference in feelings between eating one to many bites and having food stuck? I just started mushies and tried to eat a scrambled egg. I ate about half and had a very bad pain. I stopped eating and the pain went away after about 5 minutes.

Sounds like you might have taken too big a bit, or not chewed the egg up enough and it had a hard time passing through your band.

If you get food 'stuck' you will know it. you get a very heavy painful feeling in your chest, your mouth starts to salivate a lot. Sometimes the food comes back up on it's own (aka PBing) and sometimes you have to wait it out and the food finally passes through.

If you eat 'one too many bits' you could experience the same feeling as getting stuck or just uncomfortable for a while.

You will learn to listen for what we call the 'soft stop' warning. This is your band saying 'ok that's enough, one more bit and it's not going down...' lol

Hope that answers your question. Good luck.

Your bites should be about the size of a fingernail and even then you need to chew chew chew. You also want to take about 20 minutes to finish a cup or so of food.... if you do that you shouldn't have that horrible stuck feeling.

Both suck! I hate the stuck feeling so I just end up regurgitating it. It's not throwing up because nothing comes from your stomach. It's just that one small thing that got stuck and saliva. I'm so used to it now, I can just walk in the other room, lean over the sink and I'm done in 30 seconds! Feels better than waiting with chest pain.

How do you know if you have too much Fluid or if your band has slipped? I had my second fill this week and I feel like everything hurts or gets stuck or I throw up. I can't even take my meds now.

My Dr said to give it a couple of days after a fill before eating full solids again. I once had a fill and couldn't keep anything down so I had them take some out. It was a mistake. 2 weeks later I had to go in for another fill and pay again.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
