not feeling full at all when i eat...help?

Recommended Posts

So everytime I eat since being banded on the 29th of Nov I don't feel full. I measure out my foods. I eat healthy. I had my first fill on Tuesday the 18th. I'm just confused. Is there something I'm not doing right? I'm a beginner and I'm just worried I will fall back to my old eating habits. I need some veterans opinions please :)

The goal is to eat until you are satisfied. Protein first, then veggie, then starch. Are you weighing and measuring your food? If eat to feel full, you will likely have overeaten. Try drinking something high protein in between, such as SF hot chocolate, sf apple cider, etc.

If you are saying your first fill is not until Jan18th, then you may want to call for an earlier appointment. At this point you are in what we fondly call Bander Hell. At first, you are doing most of the work. The band will start to help after you start getting fills. In the meantime "Want Power," the desire to make this work is you best ally.

Let me apologize in advance for my default response to your topic. Your post is very common mainly because almost every one of us has had the same experience 6 weeks or more into this journey. Seems like most all had selective hearing when we went through the seminars, research and nutrition meetings? I know I did. I really thought I'd immediatly start losing weight and feel satisfied with a small meal. HA! Not a chance. Some are lucky and it does work that way but for most, not!

I was banded a little over a year ago(11/28/11). I lost 12 lbs the first two weeks and then nothing for the next 3.5 months. Then I got my 3rd fill and met with my nutritionist. The weight began to fall off after that. Relax, what you are experiencing is very normal and has happened to most of us. Seems like I was hungrier after the surgery than ever before. But, I was a good boy and ate healthy foods, but maybe not the 1/2 cup I was told to eat. That enabled me to maintain my 12 lb loss till my 3rd fill.

You'll be in "bandster hell" until you get the fill that gives you enough restriction for the band to work it's magic. That may be 1 fill or 6. No one knows. Till then, like our esteemed forum member B-52 says, "

"Until there's restriction...It's just another diet"

No I already had a fill on the 18th. Im measuring my food just not weighing it. I make sure I have most protein and veggies first then if I have room after I just add some starches. Not much. Also I don't know when a good time to start my workout routines. I have started walking but I guess I just don't know how to bump it up I guess. Sorry. I'm really not this lost on the band just confused now that its actually happening. I've read on here for awhile but I guess u don't pay as close attention as you would when u actually have it haha. I appreciate yalls feedback :)

Bandsters aren't supposed to feel full. They're supposed to feel satisfied which is a feat until you get into the green zone... Just keep following your plan and you will get there and the weight will continue to fall off. Hang in there.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
