Peaceful1 110 Posted December 20, 2012 Hello all.. I was banded on Monday, recovery has had it's ups and downs. Im wondering what the mental/emotional recovery was for everyone. Does it ever freak you out knowing there is a foreign object in your body? I've had this thought alot...Im wondering if it's just me. How do heal your spirit? Not just your body? **IP~LB** 279 Posted December 20, 2012 Hi Peace, Yeah I had that before surgery was performed. I woke up one evening in a sweat.. Since surgery I haven't thought about it. I am just happy I am following doctors orders to the T and not swaying back to old habits etc. If we sit down and think all of the negative things that could happen we would drive outselves crazy! Just think positive!!! Eat what you are supposed to eat and don't rush a thing. This is a great tool to finally get our lives back! I for one can't wait to crossift and play tennis again! WATCH out 2013.....I am coming! LOL 1 Peaceful1 reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted December 20, 2012 That foreign object is helping you lose weight. NO different from artificial hip, knees, etc. Nothing to freak about. Learn to use the tool you now have! 7 Banjo257, Peaceful1, ☠carolinagirl☠ and 4 others reacted to this
Pebbagirl 131 Posted December 21, 2012 It kind of Freaked me out beforehand, having a foreign body inside me. But I'm 2 weeks old today and I'm embracing it. Like Chez said, that foreign body is helping me. I was able to pull my jeans off today without unbuttoning them!! I'm currently trying to think up a name for my band. I'm considering Magic Mike or The Amazing Kreskin!!! 3 ☠carolinagirl☠, Banjo257 and Mama2girls reacted to this

naturallyjai 129 Posted December 21, 2012 I was banded yesterday and I have been in and out of sleep a LOT! When I wake up I have to remind myself that I was banded. Then I freak out about the foreign object. Does that make sense?

Pebbagirl 131 Posted December 21, 2012 Naturally, you may be freaking out because you're on pain meds (I assume ) and sleeping a Lot. I slept a lot the first three days. Don't freak out until at least the pain meds are out of your system. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

My body tells me that I have been through something then I have to remind myself of what has happened. I guess it will take some time.
Banjo257 920 Posted December 21, 2012 I knew you all had wonderful things to say! I just needed some positive reinforcement. My whole family has disowned me because I had this procedure. I am soo sad to hear abt your family's reaction. I come from a judgemental family so only a few know. I don't think anyone has the perfect family that we think others might have. Hang in there. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and ♕ajtexas♕ reacted to this

naturallyjai 129 Posted December 21, 2012 I knew you all had wonderful things to say! I just needed some positive reinforcement. My whole family has disowned me because I had this procedure. I had a few family members who were not pleased with my decision. The only person who mattered was my mom. Once I sat down with her and explained the procedure and told her about how I felt at my current weight she lightened up. She is still not completely happy but she is on board now. Everyone else... Doesn't matter what they think. As long as you are happy! That is what matters. I was going to do this with/without my mom. This is for me like your surgery is for u. You have a forum family. 4sweeties 63 Posted December 21, 2012 Oh yes...I can relate. At 3:30 am last night, in the hospital I was in pain, couldn't sleep and my dr tells nurses not to give us more than tlyenol and nothing to drink from midnight on, bc of our video x ray in the morning. Some people in the past heavy pain killers were too drowsy for the x ray, so he stopped it. I had a pain killer at 7:30 so at 3:30 I was miserable. I wished I didn't op for this surgery and I was freaking that I put a foreign object into my body for the rest of my life. But I think it was the pain and exhaustion talking. It still makes me feel a bit weird to know somethings in my body but I know as I feel better and get used to it I will be ok. The PA told me its so tiny and lots of people have foreign objects in their body for various reasons. She said I'm not the only one to get upset over it. My dr at my consltation I asked if anyone does not accept it. he said there is a very small percentage of people who physchiologically can't accept it int heir body and get it removed. Such a small amount of people though.
