Hi There

I have made the decision to go with the surgery. My fear isn't the surgery itself. My fear is failing. Did anyone or does anyone feel this way?

Every day I face that fear. Even now that I am at my goal weight I fear that I'll gain all my weight back. But I have this tool that helped me loose the weight and will now help me maintain my weight.

It is the best thing I have ever done for myself!

I look at this as a tool. I'm gluten intolerant so when I find something to actually eat I eat a lot of it. I'm hoping I won't have that wish to eat very much food. It is so much money. That is another reason I don't want to fail and worry about it. I can't work out. I may need knee surgery so that is a concern.

I was self-pay, worth every penny. I don't "work out" I walk as much as I can, I use a pedometer to track and try to get 10,000 steps in a day. Start slow and work up to it.

You will get there, one day a a time and one step at a time.

I'm scheduled for surgery on 12/31 and failing has been one of my biggest fears. However, you're never a failure until you quit trying. I've already failed myself once by gaining back almost all of the 165 lbs I lost. This time I'm trying to lose weight safely and in a healthy manner and hopefully for good. I'm trying to stay focused and motivated.

Did you do the lap band before or lost the weight on your own?

I lost weight on my own. I went through some tough times (lost several family members) lost a good amount without really trying - 80 lbs and then decided if I lost that much I should put some effort into it. Unfortunately I became obsessed with weight loss and became anorexic and had a bad case of body dysmorphic disorder. I went from a size 24W to a 6 - 8 (even had some size 4's) and thought that I still needed to lose weight. Along the way I had to have my gall bladder removed and suffered a Vitamin B deficiency so severe my doctors thought I had either suffered a stroke or had MS at first and it was all due to rapid weight loss. I had such a hard time believing I was a small person that I had to keep checking my clothing tags in my closet! Now, I don't want to look at my clothing tags! I'm determined to lose weight in a healthy manner this time with sensible goals.

Yes I felt the same way! But I'm 10 days post op and have lost 24lbs. I slipped up yesterday and ate a half sandwich! Shame on me but I feel super guilty and will not risk complications for food again. I'm sure you will do fine and I'm sure that fear of failing will motivate you to stay strong and do as your told!!

How long did you do Clear liquids? I am 3 days post op and had some grits

I had surgery in August, so I am almost 5 months post op. I don't think the fear of failure will ever fully go away, but when I think about the fact that I am down over 50 lbs and 4 sizes, I look at THAT and see success. My success outweighs my fear. There are stumbles along the way. We all have them. We are not perfect. However, it is how you react to them that makes the difference.

GOOD LUCK!

Just make sure you are VERY informed and educated about the entire process. I did not do enough research about Bandster HE**, Hair loss issues and constipations. No regrets . . .. yet~ GOOD LUCK on your journey

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
