It's not so much how much you drink but how fast. Drinking a lot of liquid is good for you but sip it, don't chug. Now that I have restriction, if I take too big of a drink I can feel it sitting above my band and then go through. It's a weird feeling and a reminder I need to slow it down.

Does your doctor have a nutritionist you can meet with? That helped me a lot w/ understanding how to eat, what to eat, etc. and how to treat my new baby pouch! ;)

Everything has been said already. I wanna wish you luck. Every day is a new day to start over. Great that you are back on the bandwagon so to speak.

Go slow and ask your dr for instructions today don't wait for your next appointment and do research. There are a lot more rules.

Just remember to take things slow cause you may feel good but your body needs time to heal.

It's a shame you weren't given more instruction... But liquids for 2 weeks is the norm... I was on Clear Liquids for the first week then creamy liquids the 2nd week. The cream would be like Soups with no meat or noodles, protien shakes... Yogurt with no fruit or goodies in them.... That sort of thing. Try to limit your calories during this time so you still lose... My dr had me on 1200 which was almost impossible. I just couldn't eat that much. Then the third week I was on mushies... Which is basically anything you can mush up in a blender ...I avoided meats except chicken salad and tuna basically because blended burgers just looked too gross. Lol. Avoid breads and anything crunchy. Applesauce, mashed potatoes and foods easily digestsble work well. But even during that stage I had no more than 3 oz protien, 1/4 c starch and 1/2 c of veggies at each meal.... Which totaled 1000 calories.

Dont hesitate to call your drs office if you hav questions or feel you need more instruction. That's what they are there for.

True Results have patient advocate and nutritionist on staff, give them a call and ask for more information.

I went through True Results in Austin and got arm loads of information regarding the diets.

Good luck to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
