Sounds normal...and you haven't gained..... I assume you are on liquids.... But you still want to be watching calories and salt intake. You will see a loss before you know it. Your body is in recovery mode.

Everyone reacts to the surgery a little differently. If you have been following your post op diet, you will be fine. Give the body a chance to heal.

You are healing and probably starving your body so it is holding onto everything..........things will happen.

My dr said to not weigh everyday. I just had surgery Wednesday. He said to just weigh myself on Wednesdays. He said concentrate on the after surgery diet and then once off of mushies to count calories. Said not to get hung up about the number on the scale.

Weighing daily can mess with your head!

Now is the time for healing, try not to focus on the weight. I suggest putting the scale away for a while. Once your body is healed and you are on regular food, then start weighing.

Good luck to you.

I weigh once a week. Period. And FWIW, here's how jacked up it can be: surgery day: 245, 1-week follow up: 232, 2 weeks post: 235. Am I concerned about that weight gain? Not a bit! I went from about 100 -200 calories a day after surgery to 800-1000 a day this second week. That 232 was partially Water. It was like getting the flu. This is a marathon, not a sprint. "Finishing the race " (weighing a healthy weight) is what matters, not how fast it's done.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
