I hate that I have never made a large claim with insurance ever. Only my minimal doctors visits for check ups. And now when I actually want to have them pay for 4400 of it they are making me jump thru hoops!

I've probably paid them thousands of dollars and this is just ridiculous.

I'm sorry if I'm just bitching on here but I'm really pissed off :/

I don't blame you, I'd be pissed too. It's ridiculous to me that people can pay thousands and thousands of dollars for insurance coverage they hardly use, but once they actually need it, they get nothing but grief or even denied. It's complete crap.

Keep fighting them and don't give up!

I feel the same way about home owners insurance. Paying premiums for 40yrs with never a claim and paying 3 times what I use too. Rrrrrrrr

Sorry you're aggravated, but not much we can do about it. I'm just please my insurance started paying for WLS. They didn't a few years ago. Had a lot of hoops too, but right now I'm really happy it all worked out. I had 6mths diet, nut classes, psych eval. Still had to pay my 20%,but now I losing it's all worth it and more.

In about 6mths going to hit them up for double knee replacement too.

Insurance premiums bite, but thank goodness its there when we need it.

I am with you... I have been paying insurance through my employer for 30 years... They would cover high blood pressure meds, diabetes if I had it and shoot even a heart attack but they wouldn't pay for me to get help losing weight. It's just a fact of life and i agree it stinks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
